Re: Thinking about going to look at an m5
[quote="M5pilot"]Get yourself a 3.8 M5 6 speed with big brakes. You will NEVER regret it even if the maintenance costs are a little high. That is a bit of a sweeping statement Mr Pilot. I'm sure there are plenty of things that could go dramatically wrong with such a car and cause him to want to self...

I think if it came out of the stealer sporting one then leave it on (As long as whoever specced the car when new didn't ask for one on their poverty spec 316i.) For instance, I think the only E30 which came out of the dealer with one besides the actual M-power cars were the sports so in that case it...

Make it louder. It will sort of sound faster thereby tricking yourself into thinking it actually is faster. To be honest mate any money spent tuning this engine you might as well piss up against a wall, if I was you I'd bang a cheapo cone filter on and at least it might mask the sound of the tappets...

Three of my mates were fiat master techs for about 20 odd years between them. Those tiny little turbo engines are so good because they are so basic. You can take a standard one running 0.4 bar of boost, bang a bleed valve onto it and wang it right up to 1.5 bar and rag it around. Soon, the headgaske...

Also if you want to talk about rust then look at mercedes from the last ten years. There are thirty year old merc tanks with barely a hint of rot in them still cruising about, but I have seen ML's that needed replacement boots, bonnets and wings within TWO YEARS of manufacture. Now that is terrible....

There has been a lot of sense talked on this thread. Can I just say I am a BMW fan first and foremost, and love E30's to bits, but a lot of people on here are so f***ing blinkered about them that they start to sound like religious fanatics who have endured a severe brainwashing session at the hands ...

Not thinking of a conversion, far more trouble grief and expense than any sane person would consider. I just fancy one, know a few people who have got them and put a fair few miles on them and none of them have had any issues. Can't you just buy external warranties that cover any nasty unexpected br...

I think people need to re adjust their attitudes slightly on this forum. A new member joins and asks for some genuine advice and gets completely ripped to shreds both about his car and personally. There is nothing wrong with winding up established forum members but some young kid comes on here with ...

330d potential....?
How much power can you reliably squeeze out of a 330d? I remember seeing one in Total BMW or something that was going in to the gumball and I'm sure he said he was running approx 300bhp. Any ideas?

Right. Seeing as you love to talk down to E30 owners.......... 1991 Range Rover. That's 500 quid's worth of Brtish oil leaking scrap. Nice. - £700 actually, and it only gets used off road, which it is actually quite good at! 89 325i Sport - the only decent car you actually own/sold.- Realistically...

Re:
I must admit i don't understand why some people on this forum even bother posting when they have nothing positive to say about E30s. If you have an E30 and your not happy with it or its performance sell it and and join another forum, simple. Sold it already, like I have already said I am astonished...

I am a fan of BMW's through and through too. I love them to bits, and if I won the lottery I would be straight down to my local BMW dealer, but I am continually astonished by the pack mentality on here. I love my 325i in a certain way, it sounds awesome, it looks pretty mean and it is quite capable ...

You are such good fun JonB, I wish more forum type people could be shaped in the mould of you..... What people need to realise is that E30's are so outdated they should be wearing piss sacks. A chipped E90 320d rep wagon would kill the majority of E30's stone dead, which is a shame, but also a sad f...

Spanking new CTR (2yrs ago nearly) £169.99/mth + vat , 10k per yr. Kill it, give it back. Hardly Yes car credit is it? Shame your business doesn't turn over enough profit every year or you could do the same deal and not worry about the VAT JonB, instead of running round in a semi hero chariot of t...

Re: 2.7 Vs the Hot Hatches
[quote="jonb"]Civic type R"s are yes car credit loser chariots.... Yeah, except you probably would struggle to get credit. As for a 327i having a dig at a 330i,, lets be more realistic. I am confident in saying that an E30 327i would have a good chance against an E90 320d. Oh, hang on, on second tho...

this thread is not about standard e30 though but yes the CTR may beat your average 318-325 I dont see how a 318i even comes into this thread? For that matter, neither does a 325i. I bought my sport and very soon after got shown up by a chipped focus diesel through the gears. but an e30 m3 with 200+ ...

Re: 2.7 Vs the Hot Hatches
[quote="Simon13"]Sorry Ollie but an E30 M3 can take a CTR on track even if it is 20 years old. It's got the same power and that sublime chassis that even a hothatch which is 20 years newer CTR can't beat. A wanker on my road drives a CTR, I think the last line is the key. Unless you know try to kill...
