Re: M54 on M52 DME + Loom
I've seen a 220rwhp M54B30 with only M50 manifold, M50 intake cam on exhaust, OBD! running on a bosch 402 (both cams locked fully advanced) With cams and M3 headers I'm sure it would push abit more too. What's the main differences between M54 in terms of flow or is it the same? What is the CR when y...

M54 on M52 DME + Loom
I currently have an m52 swapped e30. Been running well for a year and a half now, but the motor is abit tired and I am planning to overhaul it completely in the next few months. I have been looking for some m54b30 internals to rebuild my m52b28 with, However I can only find a fulll M54. What I want ...

Re: Just did S52 cam swap
Forgot about this, after a couple weeks and a couple hundred kms the car came to life, I was probably just abit impatient and needed to drive a fair bit for the DME to adapt.
Have a new DME on the way with a tune suited to M50 manifold and S52 cams. Should be a blast.

Re: Just did S52 cam swap
Yeah I had all the tools and was done properly. Spent 2 days doing it taking my time and using a good youtube tutorial on the removal and installation of the cams and vanos. It seems to have gotten better the more I am driving it. Cold idle is abit rough though. I think my main issue is I'm still us...

Just did S52 cam swap
Hey Guys, I just swapped a pair of S52 cams into my m52B28, I spent 2 days on and off taking my time doing the swap. Install has gone well, no weird noises or issues. Just wondering what I should expect at first (I'm still on my same ECU nothing has changed "tune" wise) All i have noticed thus far i...

Re: Exhaust headers
True fair enough, Not looking for cheap but I'm not looking to spend more than the motor cost me for some better flow. I will just look into opening up the rest of the system then leave the m52 headers on there.

Yeah that is the one from the wiki I looked at, want something cheaper.. Like the ones on Turnermotorsport, which probably won't fit RHD seem abit steep too but cheaper than the fritz... http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1773-e30-m50s50s52-conversion-shorty-exhaust-header.aspx What does everyone els...

Exhaust headers
I recently picked up some s52 cams, but want to look into sorting some better exhaust headers over my current m52 standard ones. What options are a direct fit, or little modifcation that will work well with my m52b28 which has an m50 intake, will have s52 cams. Not looking to spend a huge amount lik...

Re: m52 crank but no start
Cool thanks I will check that when I remove it. I have managed to sort out a replacement to an OEM one from the supplier that sold me this one so I'm hoping this is the problem and not the DME :? The reason I replaced it was because of this exact issue right after I did my vanos, But it was because ...

Re: m52 crank but no start
How do you test the crank sensor? The cam sensor is also new one month ago, OEM. Crank sensor was Hans Pries (TOPRAN) https://www.pries.de/index.php?lang=uk Quick Google suggests it isn't OEM, Also it's a single wire / sensor. I checked pelican parts and it looks like they changed to a plug with a s...

Re: m52 crank but no start
Could be, I bought it from a guy who deals OEM parts, however I wasn't sure if the brand was OEM or not. Can't remember of the top of my head what it was.
Replaced it over a month ago though. Does the crank sensor stop fuel injectors and ignition?

I have replaced the O2 sensors now, the last ones were pretty fouled. It runs alot better, but still flat above 4000rpm. I am going to change the intake as I am thinking I have am strangling it by having a smaller intake than the MAF on there, but it has a carbon intake box around the air filter - W...

m52b28 bogging down when warm
My m52b28 is having issues where it has no power and does not pull at all across the entire rev range. When cold it will pull quite strong, but higher in the rpm it feels like it is hesitating. It runs alot better when colder though. It idles perfectly, though blipping the throttle it sometimes drop...

VANOS plug
I have my vanos plugged into the 2pin connector on the fuel rail.
I was looking at threads for vanos rebuilds and this looks like it is wrong, what is that plug on the fuel rail for and where should the VANOS wiring plug be coming from?
Anyone know wire colour?
Could explain my flat power issue..

Cool will keep that in mind, Just bought some seals of DanThe. He also showed me a simpler method for removing it without removing the vanos from the motor. I'll wait and see how I go about it. Pretty anxious though, haven't really given this m52 good run yet barely over 4.5-5k rpm just feels a tad ...

Bugger - Power steering is now sorted, but I think the engine has blown its headgasket. Re: Issues after M52 swap
Which one is the pull rod? I did have to adjust the long rod from RHD side to the booster as it was pulling the pedal just enough to keep my brake lights on. Issues after M52 swap
Just did my M52B28 e30 swap into my touring, I now have some issues; 1. Gearbox / Clutch rattling when engaging. I have a 6.4KG m20 flywheel and a uprated clutch / pressure plate, Gearbox is a 318i G240. Flywheel was freshly ground, have done about 100kms so far. 2. Power steering pump whining and n...

Re: M50 w/Getrag 260 & 3.73 diff
Have seen them on Ebay, But also heard of people modifying their original mount. You also need to modify the shifter for the tilt or else it hits the tunnel. And yes if you find the ratios fine with the m20 (IMO 3.73 with e30 gearboxes is the best ratio) then it will be the exact same with the m50. ...

Re: Gear Linkage Question - have I got the correct one?
It all depends what gearbox you are going to use, If you are retaining the same pre-facelift 260 gearbox then you must use the same linkage but modified for the lean. You can't swap the shifter linkage between prefaclift and facelift, the mounting to the gearbox is completely different. As above, th...
