Ok an update. If you ever have a claim you MUST make sure you get a witness as even if the other guy holds his hands up to the accident their insurance company will still bicker about it and try for a 50/50. Luckily I did have a witness who although did not see the actual colisions, was there minute...

Schematic exploded diagram link

Does anyone still have a link for the site which had the e30 parts technical drawing. I used to have it but ever since the BMW got wiped out last year I have lost my e30 links.

It seems my insurance had a legal expenses cover thank godness and a solicitor has been apointed for me to claim on my behalf. Hopefully I will get to claim for loss of earnings and the damage for the car. As I am not claiming from my own insurance company does this mean that I still have retained m...

The car is not driveable. If you look on the rear wheel you can see where the chasis of the transit has caught the rim and buckled it back. When i tried driving it out I think the drive shaft broke or came disconnected.

I have to look for a new motor tomorrow its such a pain and an expense I could do without this clo...

E30 Saloon wiped out this morning

Ice roads along Raspberry Hill by the Funton Brickworks Rainham led to an out of control van skidding across the road and wiping out my E30. Although the speed were not much about 30 mph for both the angle of collision took the ford transit front quater along the side of my E30 from just behind th e...

If you do buy the K8 relay from new tell us how much it cost. If I can find my old relay I will list it on ebay.

Also did you squirt some WD40 down the connectors that plug into the fog light unit. It's been sitting open like that for 15+ years.

Finished. Sprayed the connectors which I found behind the headlaps, connected them up and found one not working. After flaffing about I found out that a bulb had blown, so changed it, found it easier to take whole unit out. Eveything now working. Excellent!

Have you tried undoing the live battery terminal and just touching the live terminal with the lead. This surge can cause the central locking to open.

At last got a t55 torx bit, had to get married first. The bumper does come off so easily. So took the bumper off the donor vehicle, removed indicator unit and remaining fog light clips that I was unable to get to. Took the bumper off my 316, removed blanking plates, pushed in the clips, changed indi...

I am sure I could remove the plates without removing he bumper. I would snap them off the plastic is 15/16 years old and would be brittle. Besides which I have an indicator bulb that keeps blowing so I will need to get behind and sort out the earthing problem there. What I will try is to get the bol...

Bumper removal

It looks like I need to remove my front bumper to get to the clips for the plate that covers the fog light space. I am putting a set of fogs on my E30 316i but first I need to remove the blanking plate and place some plastic inserts for the self tappers that hold the fog lights in place. How is the ...

Re: I fixed my central locking

E30 locking ECUs are very reliable, unless they've succumbed to water damage, and all E30s have one, so they're not rare. There shouldn't be any problem in buying a second hand one from a scrappy. Just check that there are no signs of water damage, and the thermal trip hasn't been bodged. Your prob...

I fixed my central locking

I fixed it tonight and I was surprised that I found the fault. As everyone can guess the fault was with the central locking module. The symptoms were unusual in that it would not activate the central locking to lock on the key but it would unlock. Even more annoying was that it had the habit of lock...

Do a compression test before taking your head off. It might be something worse than headgasket like worn oil ring or something not as bad like leaky valve guide. The symptons of overheating and oily rings do give head gasket as the likely candidate.
