sounds similar to when my Throttle position sensor went. This would be worth a check
( i did all the usual hose leak chasing, and ICV cleaning, and replaced all my gaskets to find it was the TPS all along)... things ran a lot smoother after all the work

m40 box works with:

m20 flywheel and m20 clutch

e30 m20b20 driveshaft (prefered), or e30 325i driveshaft
e30 m20b20 gear selector and shift carrier
best with 3.64 diff (or 3.46 if you use it lots on the highway in my opinion)

I have the same bimmer tune bbtb. I get both the sticking and the slight whistle (but only if I open the throttle at the right speed, if I hold it at say 10% there is no whistle, or if I drop the clutch and punch the throttle I don't get the whistle... It is very faint, but it's there, not too sure ...

It has been done like that, but it is very expensive and needs to be custom... unfortunately the ones that came with your m52 are unlikely to fit due to the reduced space and steering UJ

With an auto, it needs to be receiving the signal that the car is in neutral or it will not start, this is to say that EWS Pin 9 needs to be switched on (wire this through the same positive as switch EWS pin 5) and you should be right.

do you have any vacuum leaks? Did you replace them when you fitted the motor? if no leaks and you replaced them before then I would leave it. Otherwise this might be helpful.

m20 flywheel that you should use is part 11221264517 (e30 320i, 323i to 09/1984, e21 320i, 323i, e12 520i, e28 520i) or you can machine off the rear (engine side) of a regular e30 m20 flywheel. Use flywheel bolts 11227805885 (x8), use throw out bearing (30mm vs regualr 25mm) from 323i 21511204525. y...

I was under the impression this would be too long and that a 320i prop would be best and that a 325i e30 prop would be too short. are all e30 pro...
