Re: Getting desperate now.
Which ECU do you have? The later 0 261 200 380 was reknowned for blowing diodes in the idle control circuit, which could cause such an issue. Try disconnecting the battery, leave for an hour or so to reset the ECU, reconnect, let it idle for at least 10 minutes, switch off, then go for a drive thro...

Re: Getting desperate now.
Not that I have noticed.
There is some smoke on start up but this clears once the engine is warm. It has done this for as long as I've owned the car though, even when it was running fine.

Getting desperate now.
I've been having intermittent problems recently with the 325 idle. It sounds like it has a misfire and is hunting from around 500-1000 rpm on idle. At times it will also cut out completely under the slightest throttle input. I have replaced the ICV, TPS, Coolant Temp sensor, spark plugs and Distribu...

Re: Anyone with Lancaster Insurance? Help please!
I'm also 21 and paying £1600 for an m20 converted 318 as my only car.
It took alot of phoning around to get that price but I can't see how a standard 1.8 auto could be just as much?!

Any updates on this?
Still interested! Weekdays are possible but would need a couple of weeks notice to sort shifts.

Re:
Ha, don't worry, I'll be in the E30.
My friend was asking if there was space for his Gti, looks like it might not even be on the road by then anyway!

Re: Lower arms, doe's it make any difference Do they last lo
I recently bought some lemforder control arms from ecp via Matt (Meatballs82 on here) and the service was excellent, i'd use them again.
The parts look to be high quality kit from a brief inspection, although I haven't got round to fitting them yet.

I had this exact fault, intermittent misfire and stalling when warm. Had the same headache as you trying to source the problem too. Turns out my distributor cap had a crack in it along the bottom so spark 5 was grounding/jumping, causing the missfire. Replaced the cap and leads, runs a treat! Hope y...

Possible overfueling?
My 325 has developed a 'stutter' as a friend put it. It's most noticeable under part throttle and motorway speeds, the car shakes and feels like it's struggling. There is also a smell of petrol when you get out of the car, it's not very strong but it's there. Because of this i'm thinking it might be...

Recomended mechanics in the south-east?
The garage I had previously lined up to carry out some work has pulled out
So I'm looking for somewhere/someone to fit a rear disc conversion, polybushes and new brake hoses in the south east, idealy in the Cambs area.
Any suggestions?
Simon

Re: Massive cooling failure
This is what I found when I looked under the car...

Seems like that would have taken A LOT of pressure to blow a chunk out of the hose

Re: Massive cooling failure
Very detailed reply, thank you!
I'll just replace the hose with OEM and hope for the best then.
Your comment about the fan shroud confused me for a second there. To clarify, the engine in the photo isn't mine, I just stole a photo off the net to illustrate my point.

Massive cooling failure
Hi guys, My e30 had what we like to call an 'episode' last night and blew a radiator hose. It's split clean down the middle as if it was cut open so i'm thinking it was fatigue on the parts rather than anything else. Either way the massive steam cloud was quite impressive! The hose at fault is the h...
