Re: CID sensor..
Just to confirm, this has nothing to do with the C101 bit mentioned? If not, where does the end of the CID lead go to? It looked to me like it ran down through the timing belt cover somewhere (was dark mind you)

Righto.
Is that thing in the link above.I changed the HT leads and managed to snap it off! I assume you have to buy a genuine set of leads to replace it as there seemed no way other than cutting the leads to get it off and back on?

CID sensor..
Realised that the sensor and cable on my 318 cab has broken off the HT lead.I had no idea what the cable was for, but searched the wiki to see it should control injector firing. Should it idle and run perfectly well with it off? Just did a 100 odd mile trip and it was flawless! In fact things seem b...

Re: 318 Cab not starting well..
Ok, a few things to go on there.Cheers. It's so annoying as it just turns over and over and over.I have to hold the key as it does so, listening to it part catch, part catch again, then again and again and again. It eventually starts if you do it this way and is then fine. Something else of a mystery...

Re: 318 Cab not starting well..
Would it still start perfectly every day, engine or weather hot/ cold if it were injectors though mate?
This only happens if you leave it a few days.I was assuming it would be choke or sensor related etc.

318 Cab not starting well..
Not sure what this could be.If I use the car, then were to say park it overnight or all day, when I come back to it, it will start absolutely fine.Leave it for two or three days + and it's a pig to start! I am having to leave it turning over and over and over waiting for it to catch.Once running, it...

Cabriolet roof swap (entire frame)
Thought I would put this here for newbies to the E30 scene (like me) who wish to swap a complete cabriolet roof.Obviously changing over just the material to your original frame is a lot more in depth, but a frame swap isn't so bad. This was my experience earlier today and I can update later when the ...

Re: m40 tappet noise
My car is rather odd.It starts quietly from cold and after say 30 or so seconds, starts to tap.A minute later, it goes quiet again, a minute after that it taps again and a minute after that it will stay quiet almost constantly until a cold start again where this proccess repeats itself.

Re: Got the Cab detailed..
He's been at it again. This time a wet sand and wax on this boot..
Well worth selecting the 1080p and full screen options (even if you have to pause it, wait for it to load then come back and hit play). It loses so much at the lower resolutions.

Re: Got the Cab detailed..
He was at it all day Gert! Was certainly a challenge! As for the dust, you don't keep it off -You just get annoyed and keep wiping it ;p (although it does come off rather well with a decent cloth due to all the wax etc) As I mentioned, he is based near Rainham in Kent and his number is below if anyo...

It's more a serious hobby for him.He is based near Rainham in Kent.Water Butt sign was up during the hosepipe ban (which was odd seeing as it pi$$ed down for a month)

Re: Got the Cab detailed..
Not 100% sure on all the stuff he used, but I know there was a fair bit of 3M stuff knocking about. It was foamed, clayed, sprayed with various things, wiped, rinsed and buffed by hand and a machine. Then, just when I thought it looked great, it was moved outside to be rinsed and cleaned off again and...

Got the Cab detailed..
Took it to someone I know called Andy and let him get to work on the old girl. With a regular 'Sunday afternoon' type wash and wax, it looked great.Get direct sunlight or a lamp on it however and it revealed horror after horror no matter how "clean" I thought it was.. https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamai...

Eunos to E30 Cabriolet (and some other BMW's I had)
Well, after owning several BMW's in my past (and two rather rough E30's which I never really drove) I decided that when a van destroyed my MX-5, I would treat myself to a better 3 series. She's only a 318 manual with around 140k on the clock, but having had a few 6 cylinder cars in the past, I'm not ...

Re: Blower fan noise..
Just to update, I removed the unit but the noise wasn't coming from anything simple (always the way). One set of the fan blades must have been spinning off centre for quite some time as the shaft itself has movement. This would also explain the dead fuse (assume previous owner has tried to use the fa...

Blower fan noise..
Hi all.Hoping some experts in the house may be able to help.Is my fan blower dying? Not sure exactly what this noise means. When I got the car at the weekend, the fan didn't work at all.I replaced fuse 20 but the fan still didn't work and all you could hear was a relay type ticking noise.Today, howe...
