Oh no, sorry to hear about the engine! That is a killer blow.. Awesome of the supplier helping you out! ... Why did it break, was the engine out of a front impact car? Mechanical Gauge during startup should be mandatory from now on. I still can't believe your bad luck. Scrapping a M20 on no oil pres...

Re: E30 to E36 speed signal when using a non BMW dash...
I am a bit confused. So you have installed the engine in a non-BMW car then? Mine worked perfectly as i did just tap into the speed signal cable without connecting it to the dash-cluster instruments. I had to buy a signal device to manipulate the signal pulse to get rid of the 250km/h limiter though...

Re: E30 to E36 speed signal when using a non BMW dash...
The wire will still be there, just connect it to the speed signal from the engine. Signal comes from the connector on the diff.
You can also buy some gismo of ebay to manipulate the signal, or delay it so you can hit 250km/t+ also.

Re: Engine mount heights
For M50 and S50 conversion they often use E28 535 engine mounts. Those are 63.5 mm high.

Re: S50 turbo teaser
Nice work man! Nice to see there's a good breathe of E30 turboes up in Iceland to match your volcanos. There will never be to many S50 turboes winkeye Interesting dyno results, you drive on 98 octane pump fuel right? I'm working on my B30 turbo setup (95 octane) and have talked alot to the Andreas@ ...

Re: m20 or m50 turbo?
BTW, to thread creator - I would also recomend you going for the M50. If there is no special passion for the M20 there is no good reason for working extra on welding the waterchambers in the head and always be taunted with the rocker arms issue. A M50 MLS and ARP'ed with flat machined block and head...

Re: m20 or m50 turbo?
Well, Gunni - that depends on getting the map perfectly set up, doesnt it. Orginal parts you can never tell how long will last. Especially if we add E85 bioethanol the EGT drops quite a bit. Two friend of mine run 603whp and 530 whp with M20 2.7L's. The 603whp one had forged rods and stock preface p...

Nice and very useful thread, truely excellent custom work! To bad your selling. You have a better stamina than me when willing to work outside like that. I wouldn't even consider doing a custom engine swap without standing on a flat surface under the roof.. Many of your pictures of different solutio...

Re: Immobilisation when storing car
Unplug the crank sensor.
The best long term is killswitch on DME + for the ECU and killswitch on fuel pumps.
Remember, the best defence is the custom solutions witch even E30 geeks wouldn't know about.
