The 14" wheels give a better ride because of the higher sidewalls.

Lovely.

I wouldn't bother with 15" wheels. They just spoil the ride and handling.

Between 1/4 and 1/2 is the correct position for the temp' gauge
True for a 6 cylinder engine which should have an 82 degree 'stat.

If it's a 4 cylinder it should have an 88 degree stat and run at the halfway mark.

The cabriolet has a thicker front anti-roll bar than any other E30 (21mm). So you need the correct bushes. But they are a tight fit on all of them. You can try and pull the clamps together with water pump pliers or something or use longer bolts to get them seated and then replace with the correct bo...

I can't really be bothered to crawl under the back of my car just to take a photo for you.

Why don't you try google for images, or look under your car for yourself?

Thanks Ben and Brian your experience is valued to a total E30 novice like me and I do appreciate it.

Do you have a photo, part number etc of the exact part I need to replace so that I can eliminate the temporary fix?
Did you read the page I linked to?

It explains what you need to do.

If it is the speedometer (not the odometer which shows the distance travelled and is prone to worn cogs) then check the wires from the sender at the back of the differential. The last 10 inches of those can get brittle and snap inside the insulation.
