It IS the resistor. It is fairly easy to get to it. It is possible to clean with contact cleaner and it MAY work. Best to simply buy a new one and clip it in - which is what i did in 10 min.

Water Temp. Sensor question

BMW E30 316i (M40 engine). I had the injectors cleaned etc. and replaced the water temp. sensor (blue) and it started fine until a LOT of black smoke ! Running mad rich !
