gear box oil leak

hi Ive got a leak from what seems to be called the bleeder valve, on the top pf my M40's manual gear box. The parts are numbers 3 and 4 on the realoem diagram. Does anyone know whether I can pull off the plastic (it seems quie stuck) and tighten the stem below? Or would pulling the plastic break it?...

Re: Halfords Alpine White - OK for my 318iS?

try a dealer...
the price is little more than halfords...and if you ask for a 10% discount they tend to give t to you...so not much in it...and best chances of a good match.

Re: Can anyone help with a part number?

I think that number 5 on the Real OEM should end up to be the right part number. Its just that the drawing is inaccurate.

I got one for my old touring from the dealer (they werent silly money).

Re: yellow headlights

Yellow headlights look seriously cool. When France removed their law requiring yellow headlights in around 1989, BMW was one of the last makes to start using clear lenses again, and so you see E30s and E32/E34s right up to '94 with the yellow headlights. Ebay France is a great place to get yellow he...

Re: London Insurance

keep shopping around! Try a broker too.

If you can afford it, go for a massive excess (like £1000).

Thanks mate!

Is there anywhere you know which sells reconditioned service boards (with the new batteries)? Dont fancy changing the batteries again!

Re: If your E30 is also your daily...

I used to go to uni in my E30 318i touring - was wicked - country roads in Warwickshire. Those were the days. Looking acbk, Im lucky not to have killed myself!

Ten years later, the 318 Touring has now turned into an E30 318i convertible (93 K plate). Not as fast as the touring, but a true classic!

Thanks mate!

When switched off, mine sits at about 300. So Im now thinking that it must be the rev counter itself.

Would be great to hear from anyone who has any ideas!

E30 M40 318i rev counter sticky

My rev counter is sticky.

When I accellerate it moves normally to 3000rpm, then sticks, then jumps up to 4000. The problem is worse when the car is cold.

At idle it sits at 1200 (but I know that the car is doing 800 or so).

I have replaced the memory board batteries.

Any ideas>?
