320 Cab Ignition Problem
Hi - Sometimes after turning the key nothing happened. In order to start the engine I had to turn and press in towards the barrel. I tried 2 replacement ignition switches but could not get the car to start at all with them. I have re-fitted the old one and I can get it to start but on about 3 attemp...

Thanks Grrrmachine. I took a look and the shaft does extend as soon as key turns but the end of the shaft looked like it's broken as the end is on an uneven angle. Not knowing what one should look like I am guessing but doesnt look right. Pictures aren't great as phone camera is poor in low light. A...

E30 320i Convertible 1991
Hi - I noticed my ignition switch was on its way out so I bought a replacement second hand one on ebay but it doesnt work at all. Do you get specific ignition switches for different E30s and does anyone know where I can get one for mine?
Thanks

Re: Fuel heavy and smells!!
Posts: 777 The are a number of possibilities. 1. Faulty blue temp sensor 2. Air leaks from hoses at the inlet side 3. Faulty or messed with AFM 4. Faulty or incorrectly set TPS OK - As I'd already bought the new blue temp sensor I changed it. Started the car and it was fine :D . Tried again a minut...

Fuel heavy and smells!!
I have a BMW 320i H 1991 Cabby I seem to be getting through an unusual amount of fuel. Now I know they're not bought for their fuel economy (esp 320s!) but it has got worse recently. It smells quite fuel heavy from the exhaust also. Any ideas or suggestions, not get a 325, to try find the issue much...

Re: Knocking Noise
The noise is getting louder and more frequent. It sounds more like its near the front wheel, could this be wheel bearing or control arm/bush related or any other ideas?

Re: M tech 1 front bumper
Thanks Murphy,
I think I have wasted my time and money painting it then! Has anyone on here put a tech 1 bumper on a facelift? Can you send me a picture so I can have a look and see if its bad?

I have a 1991 cab and I have come across an mtech 1 front bumper, can I just take the current one off and put the new one on? I have re-painted already so I hope I havent jumped the...

Knocking Noise
Hi, my 1991 320 cab 155k has developed a knocking noise. It is most obvious when I drive to work in the morning 7:30 am ish. It sounds like its under the passenger seat somewhere. Sometimes when I leave work 18:00 it does it also. Temperature related?! It only last for a short time/distance but vari...

Re: 320 starting/running problem
Thanks for the advice mate, I will look into the chip replacement. I forgot to mention I also replaced fuel filter too so its definitely not that on mine either. Was yours worse in wet/damp conditions or just randomly?
Cheers

Re: 320 starting/running problem
I found out it was power steering fluid and only a clip required for that problem, phew! My local mechanic who has proved himself in the past spent an hour FOC with me today. Its not the plug and socket under the inlet manifold, a bit of grease on it but no water. The fuel system is maintaining pres...

Re: 320 starting/running problem
OK thanks, I will work through each item and see if I can identify the problem. I have noticed a smallish oil leak as well. Does that indicate anything further (other than I have an oil leak!) Thank you

320 starting/running problem
Hi, I got my e30 320 135k miles back the garage recently as I had a problem last winter when it wouldn't start. I tried replacing, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm and battery but no good. I could only afford to get it in garage recently and they gave it a general service and it started and r...

Exhaust Bracket
Has anyone seen the below exhaust bracket before? I posted a picture on the wanted forum with no joy and the only feedback I have had is that other members don't have it on their cars. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

E30 Parts - Excellent
Adi T had everything he said and also a part I'd forgotten to ask him for so he can't be faulted. He knows his stuff and helped me out on Mtech bumper advice and all parts were in very good condition.
Cheers mate
