Re: smashed the sump off the e30
What engine is it? I know someone who can make taller engine mounts for the M42 (and potentially all other engines). I had them fitted to mine and the car was great - engine vibration was high, until I put a piece of rubber sheet between the mount and the engine, then it was fine day to day. And the...

McDisco - they become VERY loud, depending on how many boxes you have. I have the front box and a cherry bomb rear on my exhaust and it's uber loud. Very free-flowing though! (mid box removed)

Have a look and see if there is a 'longlife' exhaust place near you, they do custom ones too. There's also a company on RetroRides who do custom exhausts cheap - e.g. £200-£300ish I'd have thought.

Re: my cars mega low.lowest springs and shocks you can get
Trust me mate, that isn't low. If you buy a lowered car, either sort the damn thing or or live with it, don't complain! If you want to sort it out, just buy a 40mm all round kit and you'll be fine. Speed bumps need to be taken slower with a lowered car - that's just logic IMO, my car is lower than t...

I can do any/all spax kits discounted for you if you're interested. If you actually want a 'low' car, 60/40 or 60mm all round, or coilovers.
By rubbing do you mean on the floor, or the tyres?

How low is your car? I've got a good 70mm drop on my car and I've got 195/55's on the front that don't catch! (which I was mega suprised about tbh) Getting a new suspension kit will be beneficial - you will KNOW what drop/setup you have and everything will be new. I can get you a reasonable discount...

I've actually written some useful information in that post, and been completely honest. It's blunt and straight to the point, but I didn't say 'don't be gay, if you want to drift, get a welder', because you don't HAVE to. And if I posted using my other username that actually has a decent post count,...

Re: Roundabouts and LSDs
You're obviously not man enough to have a welded diff, so don't! But if you want to become GOOD at drifting, you'll take the step to have the diff welded, or buy a 2-way. An old worn out E30 LSD just will not cut it. If you want to pop round a private roundabout sideways occasionally, then spend lot...

You'll be fine with chocks. I've jacked the car up on the flat from the diff with no chocks and been fine. I'm not stupid enough to risk it on a slope, but my point is that you shouldn't worry if you're sensible...

Re: Suspension/wheel combo advise please
Never heard of camber issues running Eibachs btw.. What a silly comment - the suspension design of the E30 dictates that lowering it created negative camber - irrelevant of the suspension manufacturer! Yup, just get some spacers - either buy or make them from some rubber sheeting. As for the damper...

Stripping the car out makes the biggest difference :p I've got vauxhall vectra injectors in mine, and they made a slight, but noticeable difference. Easily worth the £35 they cost on ebay... And I can do discount on Spax, so you've got several good options! If that's the answer, pm me, I'll sort you discount fella ;) This thread got complicated though! Re: What size wheels do people really run?
I use 195/50 on the front and 195/50 or 195/60 on the rear. Depends what tyres turn up!
Those are 15's of course, I'd use 16's if I could find a decent attractive wheel for good money.
BadDave, surely 17" wheels with a MANLY offset would fit instead?

If it's a boggo road car and you're not really aiming to use it on track or anything, then go VSX. There's nothing wrong with them, but if I could afford the PSX and wanted to use and abuse the car at all, PSX it is. Drop me a pm and I'll see what I can offer you.

I was about to type out the dimensions of the Spax ones for you, but you already have them, so not much point! But yeah, 51mm for me, stronger and better availability for inserts etc. For example, we don't do coilovers for 45mm struts, but do for 51mm struts.

Longer springs and longer dampers. You can get custom springs made pretty cheap from some places, had one of our customers recommend someone to me, but can't remember who for the life of me! Rear dampers are easy - we can custom make telescopics upto 24" long. (£65+ VAT each btw) Fronts will be tric...

500bhp? Nah, not worth it trying on an M20 - its good but nowhere near that good! Even with a 2JZ you might be looking at changing internals for that power, not 100% sure though. Had you thought about the volvo B23 (think thats the engine code) those things are mega strong - 400+ bhp on stock intern...

Imys - why? You can get plenty of power by turbo'ing the 6 pots on stock internals, and spend a lot less.
If you're aiming for big power, yeah, 1JZ, 2JZ, 1UZ or big yank V8. But you'd not need to worry to 350bhp or so!
