M3 into 318ti compact

a friend of mine has a 318ti compact and is interested in putting an M3 lump in it. is this doable? i would have thought it would be, but i would have thought the ECU and the driveshaft would be the big job to convert as most of the other stuff is similar to the regular E36 on the front end. is this...

hmm yeah....

i thought the timing chains on these and M30s were meant to last the life of the car though. isnt it possible to join the chains together and feed the new one through when the tensioner is off?

yeah but my mate is poor and cant afford the fuel on a 325 or similar. its an allright car apart from this... needs some tidying but then again most cars do. so it could be the tensioner? i'll look into that side of things cheers mate....

M10 clatter

my mate has a 4 door 316, and it is aparrent that the valve clearances need doing. however, we did the valve clearances and there is still a clatter. could the camshaft be knackered? i always thought M10s were bulletproof..... this one goes allright but its clattery... anyone got any ideas

Saab 900 turbo 16! doesnt look like it goes but it does... the only thing that toasted me off the lights when i had mine was an E46 M3. Lol. same fuel economy as a 325i and sounds nearly as good (standard 3inch exhaust all the way through with 2 boxes instead of 3) they go forever too if looked afte...

You could also get replacement cluster seals.... i suggested sealant a few months back to someone with same problem and got bombed by Scott. LOL

Sorry mate, misinterpreted the post... i thought youd actually bought some off someone else and wanted to have these if they were already on the car and were going to be removed. i vaguely remember that some people didnt get their bits when he pissed off to SA. i wouldnt say he was a little prick......

its all in the pipeline, along with the red neons in the footwell, and the red leds in the brake ducts. if anyone wants some silver mesh to do something tastefull with there is some spare..

no, a chavectomy merely stops it spreading. To fully remove the chavness of this car it has to undergo a chavotomy. LMAO

dont bother with the wynns noise reduction stuff its a waste of money. the best thing you could do to stop the noise for once and for all would be to get a brand new or nearly new camshaft (from breakers) with the matching rockers, then the noise would go. to be fair trhe only thing that affects per...

jambacorn: get some duckhams 10w 40 oil, whack that in in your next service, and use that wynns hydraulic lifter cleaner (it did nothing for mine but still try it its not much) it will make it better but wont make it dissapear duckhams oil is best suited for older engines as it quietens it down.... ...
