Re: m10 krakatoa
Hey Bim, tell me more. IIRC, Mark told me he blew the original NA engine up and turbo'd the 323 himself, or rebuilt it in any event. He gave me some pics of the engine rebuild he did, the car had an engine bay fire too about the same time (those dodgy E21 Hazard switches!) and after 7 or 8 years of ...

Sounds Good Jam172 and Chris-W. I was actually talking about the center back, the bit your back actually rests on, but the base will need doing at some point too. So I will give it a go.

What's the deal with changing the center then as mine has sagged on my recaros in my E21, and was going to get them done at some point, but if it's relatively easy DIY job, then I'd like to know how to go about it.
Cheers.

Porter Cable Transformer (not the robots) question
Another (probably dumb) PC question, but are there any preferences as to which type of transformer to use with the 7424? I've seen these on ebay and am leaning towards getting the one in the first link.

Detailing tape and Pad question
Right, I've taken the plunge and bought a Porter Cable 7424 from the US after reading and seeing the Porter Cable vids and feel confident enough to start using it on my cars. I've chosen a few products to get me started, but I wanted to know where you get the detailing or masking tape I've seen on t...

Re: Any 323i Turbos?????????
I've got a 2.3 lump similar to yours but the earlier version in my E21 323. I've got Audi 200 Turbo Pistons with some custom machining done in it. I think these may work in your engine, depending on the Compression Ratio you want to run.

Forgive my ignorance here guys, but as I'm looking to restore my shell in the next year or so, am I right in saying that Acid dip is a quicker better way to strip your shell as opposed to shot blasting it? How do they deal with any rust issues, or do they just dip it and coat it? Is this method bett...

Re: buying a car cover for the sport - NEED HELP!!!!
I got the mosoon one from them for my E21. Ok, the paintwork isn't showroom by any means, but it fits well (is actually for the E30) and protects her from the rain reasonably well too. I don't find the lining material to be too rough, and my paintwork certainly hasn't suffered from using it. Saying ...

Pacerpete, bloody hell, years ago I couldn't find any info about that M10 lump, and years later I'm meeting people who knew about it! Yep, the 323 has a turbocharged lump, I bought it about 7/8 years ago from a fella in Ashford/Staines Middlesex. Ring any bells? I think the blokes name was Mark Chal...

Re: polishing fresh repainted car?
I'm no expert, but from what little I know if it's been freshly painted you shouldn't do anything to it as the paint needs a good few weeks to cure. Not even supposed to wash AFAIK. But I'm sure someone will come and put you right sooner or later.

Sorry to hijack the post, but how does the boost control solenoid work, do you neeed to add anything else? I'm quite interested in doing this to my car as the ECU has the capability to map the boost. Cheers.

Re: Oil on spark plugs and HT's
Sounds nice mate, especially on a standard engine. Mine has Standard bolts at the moment, and I think it's a metal headgasket jobby, so that should be fine. Mine's only running 5 psi at the moment and pulled 190bhp and 216lbft torque, which I was quite pleased with as she's only still a 2.3. I need ...

Re: Oil on spark plugs and HT's
Cheers for the info Fozzy. It's recirc as I used to have a catch tank setup which we got rid off. And the strange thing is that I've been spanking the nuts off the engine for months now and it's been fine up until the last few weeks. Maybe a loose connecting hose or something somewhere. Will have a ...

Oil on spark plugs and HT's
Just got back from Holiday (was away for 2 weeks) and pulled the HT's off one by one to clean my sparks up as I had a bit of a lumpy idle/misfire on low down revs before I went away. Number 3 HT had oil on it when I pulled it out, and there was some oil on the thread part of the spark too, quite a b...

Cool, any ideas what the different coloured foam pads are all about? Blue, white, pink and orange. Seen them on ebay and assume it has something to do with the type of abrasive you will use? Deffo need to get a better polisher first I think!

Re: Using Farecla G3
Thanks for the advice gyus. ShineOn, i was going to use a standard B&Q (don't laugh) jobby buffer I got. Using Farecla G3
I have purchased some Farecla G3 from ebay in order to bring out the shine on my oxidized paint work (not on my BMW thankfully!). Question is what's the best way to use it. I know you should use a machine polisher or buffer which I have with a lambswool mop and wash the car properly before using it,...

Re: Fuel Pumps on turbo conversions
Yeah, looks like mine only has 1 external pump, although the Australian versions of the E21 did have an intank lift pump tp prime the main pump. I think the Saff 4x4 cossies have an external pump with carrier which should be good for around 300bhp. Back to the drawing board. . .

Re: Fuel Pumps on turbo conversions
POST EDITED: I've just checked on REALOEM and they show what looks like an in tank pump, I didn't think there was one on E21's due to the low psi required of the fuel pump for the fuel feed to the K-Jet. I am checkin with some E21 guru's on another forum and I know there is deffo an external pump on...
