Re: E36 m42 into 316i e30

Im thinking for doing this conversion. I wanted a 24v engine but its juts too much hassle for me. If I sourced an M44 1.9 engine with ecu and wiring and EWS etc, I can use my 318i box/fly/clutch/prop/engine mounts etc? A few things may need to be fiddled with but the rest should be ok shouldn't it? ...

Ive been using mine on and off since Febuary this year. Its only got the 1.8 m40 engine at the moment but its still been an enjoyable drive. The power has been its biggest let down for me, so its going to come off the road for a bit to get a bit of a re-vamp so I can enjoy it more next year. I've ow...

God that shocking, my 318 touring was a easey 30+mpg. I get 240 miles out off £43 in a 320 and I drive the poor old car dam hard at time's :P TBH I think its the luck of the draw with engines in general. You get some good ones and some bad ones. Im experiancing similar problems with my 318i. Im dissapointed with the mpg return tbh, the engine is unrefined, idles poorley, missfires and the temprature is all over the place. So, im going to rip out the m40 and drop in an m50 instead, then the low mpg figures will be more worth while, i'll have...

Re: Strut braces - worth it?

If they arn't so good I guess manufactures wouldn't put them on vehicles as standard equipment . I guess different vehicles have different needs, some may benefit from using a strut brace more than others. Also the qaulity of the brace is another factor.

There are A frames availble with a braking system, there is a mechanism where the frame attachs to the tow-ball, and when you brake the towing vehicle it moves some arms and pulls on a cable that travels through the window of the car being towed to inside the vehicle, then a bracket is attached to t...

Your engine does not use that sensor, but two on the gearbox. I belive that sensor is directly connected to the D shape diagnostic plug. And not to the motronic. And it´s a TDC sensor. Ok. It is directly connected to the Diagnostic plug. Does it still need to be fitted? The car wont start, the plug...

Hi. I have an E28 525E. Recently it developed very poor running charateristics, it got to the stage where it wouldn't fire and heavy petrol fumes where exiting the exhaust. I have found that the front crank sensor bracket has a clip broken off, causing the sensor not to sit correctly thus knocking t...
