Re: Brake upgrade advice on m52'd car?

My 318is is standard and doing the NÃarburgring this summer highlighted the need for better brakes, as a priority over more power. However for the road the standard set up has never been found wanting

I think there's ally to be said for a system that is o my loud when you want it to be. I got 39mpg from mixed driving from the last tank. Brim to brim rather than relying on the gauge. Was quite impressed with that

The Is has a 55l tank as standard. They are good on fuel for what they are, especially compared to six pots

Re: Urgent advice needed: propshaft

Well the trip to the ring had to be postponed of course, the car couldn't move faster than walking pace. I stuck it in the garage and forgot about it for a week or so. Just been to try and work out the issue and the silly c***s had bolted the prop directly to the gearbox output flange rather than to...

The garage has said they've done all they can, but the vibration is very much there. It's dependent on road speed and feels like it's coming from the back end

That would be the best option but time is a factor. It's obviously something they've done wrong putting it back together, so they're trying again from the start. They did pre-load the bearing the first time though. Stressed ain't the word!

Urgent advice needed: propshaft

I'm supposed to be taking my e30 round the NÃarburgring this weekend. Due to unforeseen and tragic circumstances the car is still in the workshop. It went in with no problems (except the fact that the fuel pump died on the way but this has been replaced and the car runs again) and I thought it a goo...

I have one, ran it as a daily for a year and it does feel pretty cool sitting behind all that bonnet and the three pointed star. That and the E30 are both cars I can't see myself getting rid of for a long time. They do struggle to crack 20mpg but that's not really the point

Fuel leak 318is

This is an issue that reared its head when my e30 was last on the road, and with a trip to the Nurburgring coming up it needs sorting. In short the fuel tank only fills halfway before it starts to pour out all over the floor. If you only fill it to half a tank it's fine, but there's obviously a leak...

Re: Driving experience 4doors vs 2doors vs convertible vs to

Never driven an e30 convertible but have many other types of cars along with their roofed counterparts and the driving experience is incomparable due to the difference in rigidity. Same is true of 4 doors vs. 2 doors but to a much lesser extent.

If all else fails, don't smash a window, you can get in by carefully bending the door window frame out until you can get something round the lock pin, then bending it back into shape. Not exactly recommended but has to be better than breaking glass!

Re: Why are e30's so prone to rot?

My mark 2 golf is a hell of a lot rustier than my e30 I have to say. The BMW has a couple of minor ginger bits coming through, whereas the golf has rot on practically every panel and a huge hole in the boot I had to weld up, in spite of the boot being dry as opposed to the damp one in the e30. I thi...

Sorry for the lack of explanation, I hit submit too early. Truth is I have no idea what it is, came attached to the car with about 15 kilos of terrible weld. Would wings for earlier models fit a later one? I'd be tempted to go without side repeaters for the money, or to cut my own holes! I will try source some originals, as I also need a front valance

Replacement front wings: too cheap to be any good..?

After a bit of an argument with a 40 ton truck, my E30 is in need of a new front wing: http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr255/8_tee_8/039.jpg I figured I might as well do them both as they are a bit rusty, and my dad told me about some pattern wings on nicedeals.co.uk for £29.99: http://www.nicede...
