its the tachometer i've traced the wire all the way back to the ecu and according to the wiring diagram its pin 21 and thats wot i have got don't forget its got an early type ecu? How does the ecu get the engine speed though through a crank sensor or somewhere else?

hi guys was just wondering if anyone knows where the signal for the rev counter is picked up from got a fault where my speedo is not working i have been told it recieves its signal from the crank sensor but these were replaced not long ago when it had a different fault which turned out to be an ecu ...

hi all i've got a c reg more door chromie m20 b25 and my rev counter has stopped working i've changed the ic with no luck any ideas where it gets its feed from and has anyone had this in the past. cheeers

hi ever since i canged the engine on my 1990 320i se for a m20 b25 from a m sport my battery dies over the course of a few days. if i charge the battery it will last a week then one morning i'll come out and nothing. i use the car every day it only takes 10 mins to get to work so its very short jour...

car won't start when warm.
i have changed everything engine side of things even the engine and it will only start when cold it takes a good 4 or 5 attempts to get it started once its warm. anyone got any ideas as its driving me mad.

timing fine runs fine till 2000 rpm then no power idles fine and runs sweet up to 2000 then nothing i did the cambelt 6 months ago and its been fine since then. engine was only out for a week so i can't see that its anything major.

i thought it could be but its not been on there long so would of thought it would still be good and why would it only just go when engine removed and put back in.

Car won't go over 2000 rpm.
just restored my e30 325i msport since putting the engine back in it is almost like hitting the limiter at 2000rpm and wont go anymore and throws a flame out the exhaust and pops through the air filter. anyone got any ideas. was running fine before engine was removed.

Not difficult mate just remove 6 6mm hex bolts out of each drive shaft. Remove 4 nuts off propshaft then 4 bolts on top of diff. Then last long bolt on the mount. don't forget to unplug the sensor. Weighs a ton tho so don't drop it should take you about an hour.

filled the car up last night all was fine. drove to work this morning and noticed gauge was reading empty. when i stop at junction's it moves like crazy almost with the engine rpm. there is still a full tank in tho.
