Re: New Blaupunkt Bremen

Seriously tempted with this, bit of a shame it can't stream via Bluetooth but looks fantastic.

Small kids and car seats or boosters in the back are fine.

Wind deflector makes a massive difference with roof down but can't use back seats at the same time. Hardtop is great in the winter but is a beast to store.

My old man had a 1977 CX2000, complete with a "futuristic" dash with no dials and suspension that meant you had to sit in car for a couple of minutes with the engine running waiting for it to rise. Very eccentric but kind of cool.

Heater only blowing cold air

I think from what I'm seeing in other threads the pipes are the wrong way round. Just had an engine out replacement of all perishables so it does seem likely - photo below. My real question is - are these full of coolant that will pish all over the place if I swap them over? http://i341.photobucket....

Never really in doubt. There was always going to be a large number of voters who were silent until the impact to their own pocket was understood. Yes campaign banged on about social reform etc. but avoided the "how will it actually affect me?" and "where is the extra money coming from - is it my poc...

Got the car, here are the photos. Very different driving experience from the M5 and probably not as good a car. However, it is a thing of great beauty and just feels special. Costs shouldn't be too bonkers like the Maserati. Indeed suspect it might cost less than M5 to run. Original owner has ticked...

It was registered Dec 2005. I'm sure it was a twin exhaust. I think it's the XKR that had a quad exhaust for the last few models.

The 4.2 engine doesn't have the issues of the earlier 4.0.

Checked a few cars out today and have put deposit down on a Black 2005 4.2s with black leather/carbon fibre interior. One of the last run out editions of the old model.

I know in many ways she won't match the E39 M5 but she's absolutely stunning in the flesh. Still has a tape deck mind you...

I've already owned a beautiful (in my eyes) Le Mans edition XJS. Loved the V12, the leather and the wood but don't feel the need to own another. Just can't get past the fact that E60 doesn't do it for me aesthetically. I'm going for a later (03-05) XK with the 4.2 which ironed out most of the earlie...

Sadly the Mas sold this morning. Probably saved me from myself. A Jag XK or a nice 8 series are maybe more practical on the wallet - plenty under 10k. Always fancied a Capri as well.

Did a bit more research last night and found a specialist not far away that would remove the full sting of dealership servicing. Two services, a set of tyres, a battery and brakes over 2 years wouldn't be much more than I'm forking out for M5. It's the unknown extras that put me off. Anyway not doin...

No, but like the m5 it would only do about 4k a year so petrol and major wear and tear would be minimal. Just want to own one for a year or two then move it on. If I bought fully serviced with new clutch, how much can go wrong??

Considering one of these to replace the M5. Are they just bonkers money pits or not really much worse than an M5? Had a look at one this week and my heart is trying to overrule the head - please talk me down!

Thought about chrome but the metal bumpers are painted and the trim is all black so just thought chrome end pipes might look out of place. Might revisit that decision as it's easy enough to swap.

3 parts - 2 x Mufflers @ 250 each plus about 120 for the third part, add in all the bits and pieces - end pipes etc and comes in over 700. All ordered through local dealership - some parts had to be shipped from Germany.

Now owned an E39 M5 for 3 years and not found it to be a money pit. Seem to remember the E46 M3 is actually more expensive to service. Biggest problem is, what on earth do you replace it with once it's time to change? How do you beat something that good for less than £10k. Love the look of E34 M5 bu...

Bonkers money - lots of very nice examples kicking about at a fraction of that price. Drive this for a couple of years and expect a 15k depreciation hit on top of running costs. [/img]

Convertible wing and sill corrosion....

..sorted. Front wings, both sills and wing mirrors all treated to a removal of surface rust and re-spray. Really pleased with finish. Next up is a new exhaust - decisions to be made on that one as I suspect OE is going to be hugely expensive. [img] [img]http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o384/h7fal/...

I think year on year average is not far off the mark. My M5 cost a couple of hundred pounds for the first 18 months ( oil service and brake fluid) but just had various "small" items done with inspection II which cost around £1500 plus 2 new tyres at £500. Works out about £2200 for 2 years and it wil...

If a car isn't doing heavy mileage, how long should you run the same rubber. Does it start perishing reardless of remaining tread?

M3 Motors in Bathgate is a BMW Specialist in Scotland if that's what you're after. They know E30's inside out and every so often have breakers that they can provide parts from.

Alternatively Boyd (Cecotto479) on this forum could help you out - Hamilton based workshop, lots of parts.

Bought a cab wind deflector this year - makes a big difference on motorway etc. Also got a set of alloys that are deep dish versions of the standard 15" BBS - giving it an OEM look, but just that little bit different.
