Don't know about Z3, but if I recall correctly E36 Compact diffs should fit on the E30. And of course most of early E34 ones. I have bought two LSDs off Ebay, first one whined at 70mph. The second one, which I'm running now is perfect, like a whisper. Even sold the whining one for a reasonable price...

Hardtop care?

Installed my hardtop today - wow, what a difference! Any good advice how to keep it clean and looking good? It's the original Bmw vinyl one. Is there a bmw cleaning/protection agent? P/N?

You'll need the mounting brackets and make holes on the seat top:

I just did this, seemed hopeless at first. However, I was able to fit in a socket wrench by slightly bending the ignition wire rail. Came off easy after that, remember to have the new one ready to be stuck in if you don't want to lose all of your coolant. A cold engine goes without saying  Sho...

Non-whine rear differentials, stronger heads with better lubrication. And last but not least, NO RUST TRAPS.

Soaked convertible

The one thing I've feared, happened yesterday. I came home from work, parked my convertible outside with the top down. I was going to go for a drive later but instead dozed off (at home, not in the car  ). When I woke up, it had rained heavily for an hour or so - grabbed some towels and went t...

Probably nothing wrong with Castrol, but all the people I know with Bmw LSD's swear by Mobil Gearlube VS500. This is also what I have in mine, bought 2 liters (own bottles) from my Bmw dealership.

Most two liter engines don't have six cylinders, so in that sense the Bmw motor is a peculiarity. Having owned E30's with both M20B20 and M20B25 engines, I can say they are from different planets. As mentioned, same mpg, with a tremendous difference in performance. The only positive things about the...

The mayo's lubrication quality is far from clean motor oil, so the the cam and crank are prone to excessive wear. If the head is cracked and needs replacing, you should also change the cam and rockers while at it. In addition, if you run with inadequate lubrication, at least a piston rod bearing job...

if u were to mix equal parts of each, would u get 96? and would a liter of 95 ruin a tank of 98? just topped up with the good stuff and remembered i had a drop of 95 in the tank still. so i wondered if it would change the petrolsԚ´ composition. Just wondering, what year is your car and with wh...

Some of my thoughts... Get the 325i, the c is heavier, you need the 170bhp. Check all the things mentioned above plus the following: When closing the doors, the windows should go nicely under the hood without touching it. Check also the INSIDE of the hood for tears and discolourations and the condit...

Is the dealer ETK more complete? What I've heard, the Valeo unit (FRENCH!) is crap anyway, probably a wise choice would be to replace it with a Bosch one. The installation bracket should take either one, right?

Expensive initially yes, but in the long run actually very cheap compared to other top brands. The 200ml jar lasts for ages, used max. 5ml for the whole car.
