Re: What is the differance between a 325i sport and a 325is

Just a small correction. It was the 325iS evo 1 that had the alloy panels. The Evo 2 reverted back to steel panels but had the uprated engine. Same as the Alpina 2.7 but with bigger airflow meter, throttle body etc. Both cars had full M3 spec suspension with uprated springs. Both awesome cars but ve...

That sounds about right. I.ve got the specs and road tests somewhere. Will have a look and see what I can find.

3.1 is not such a good idea. Conrods will be too short in relation to the cranshaft throw resulting in huge piston slap.

To convert a 2.5 to 2.8 you just use the crank from an E36 328 M52 with 130mm rods from eta or 320. Some simple machine work neccesary to nose of crank. 325 pistons will need 11-14mm machined off the bottom to clear crank. Same story with early 325 pistons and 2.7 crank. Block can be used as is. For...

Does anyone have a list of the parts needed to do the Z3 1.9 short shift conversion? Including all the bushes etc.

Good 325iS's are very hard to come by. Only a few hundred were produced and they are highly sought after. Unfortunately, a lot of them have also been used and abused. There is currently one for sale near me which I am considering. Price is around 5500 pounds though. How much would shipping to the UK...

Just a quick correction. It was the 333i that was available with either power steering OR air con, due to space constraints. The 325iS was equiped with both. Will try and get some figures for outputs and performance. The 333i was pretty quick but also a bit of a beast. 325iS was definately the bette...

The E30's were all built at a plant near Pretoria. Local content rules require something like 50% by value to be locally produced so these are much more than CKD's like alot of other plants around the world. Most of the models are identical to the UK cars but are usually highly specced. We don't hav...

I've just read the article that you referred to. They lost horsepower when fitting a CONE filter and had minor gains with a K&N panel filter on a 318is. We all agree cones are not the way to go but BMW SA Motorsport would not have just stuck a K&N panel filter in without verifying the gains with ple...

Yip I agree. There is not a single magazine in the world that managed to to get a sub 8 sec time for the 0-100km/h dash. These are mostly scientific results with professional drivers. In SA we had BMW Motorsport developed 2.7's using lots of Alpina parts and lots of developments and these do the 0-1...
