Re: Small pond in the back of my 318i

Had same prob with my 320. Lip around boot where the seal sits had some small holes so sorted those and adjusted the boot for a better seal. Replaced light seals, cost about a tenner from BMW. Used some instant gasket around the ariel seal as it had come adrift a bit. Problem sorted for a while but ...

Re: lowering springs

The springs are different for a reason. If you put 4 pot springs on a 6 pot you're a braver man than me!!!

Re:

Fitting a rear ARB from a 325 to my 320 didn't make it understeer at all, but my front end is completely polybushed so it's nice and stiff and should maintain its steering geometry. It has definately reduced body roll though, which I suppose it should given what its called!!! Maybe i've just been lu...

Re: P**s poor fuel economy

Just got 250 to a tank on my 320 doing mostly 4 mile journeys to work and back.

Be interesting to see what I get on a nice long run to the Nurburgring in June. Won't be nice to see what I get on the ring itself though!! :D

Whatever your preference, one things for certain. Both cars are seriously cool and command respect. I had to choose between the two a few months ago and went for a stormin '88 320 coupe in white. Nice and standard with a crackin set of BBS on. I still can't believe the interest it gets when I drive ...

Re: 320 whats this pipe do???

If your air intake hose is split - replace it. My 320 ran faultless apart from a really rough idle. Idle speed was fine but the engine sounded like it was about to stall. Checked the intake hose and low and behold it had a split where it attaches to the AFM. Split was underneath so couldn't see it w...

Re: wet drivers side carpet - HEELLLPPPP!

Fortunately mines not like jaistanleys, but I fear that if I don't get it sorted it will be!!

A mate suggested it could be the windscreen seal thats gone. Does anybody know how to check this? Can you get a good view of it if you remove the instrument cluster?

wet drivers side carpet - HEELLLPPPP!

I have a wet carpet just in the drivers footwell and can't work out where its coming from. I have felt around the carpet and don't think it is coming from the centre console area as this is dry. The plastic membrane between the door panel and door is fine so its not that. I'm sure its rain water as ...

Expansion tank hose

Can you get the expansion tank coolant hose, part number 11531722743 any cheaper than the ridiculous £54 it cost from BMW. Thanks.

Re: NurburgRing easter 08

Been to the ring a couple of times. First time as a passenger, second time on my bike (stooopid!!), and this year in my E30 bought specially for the trip. Should be the best trip yet. We stop at the Hotel Zurburg which is a full 30 second drive from the ring in Nurburg itself. Doesn't get much bette...

Re: Tracking

Does anybody know what the correct alignment settings are for an '88 320i? Took mine to a local ATS, lad was spot on and spent time freeing up the seized track rod ends. He couldn't find the settings on his chart so worked something out. The steering is now transformed, I didn't know it could be so ...

Re: Yet another suspension thread, but what the hell...

As a cheap option get yourself to GSF and buy a set of lowering springs (35-40mm) and replace the standard shocks with gas shocks. Pointless putting new springs on knackered old shocks, and this option should give you a bit of change to start buying some polybushes for the front to improve your stee...
