Touring rear seat belt bolt!

While buttoning up my interior, it seems I've lost the bolts that hold the seat belt to the pillars in my Touring. And it seems they're completely unique and NLA to boot. If anyone's stripping a Touring shell, let me know if you can post these bolts, and how much you want for 'em. I know my sig says...

Re: Wotcha

As soon as my wife got pregnant, the E30 got locked up in the garage and I moved into a 3.0 X-type estate. It's been 5 years now so I really ought to pull the 325i out and at least get the timing belt done before it snaps from boredom!

Re: E30 touring rear bumper question

I didn't even get a chance to read Brian's PM!

FWIW, the Touring bumper debacle raised its head 7 years ago, when I was buying my one. Spent a day in a subzero scrapyard trying to undo the rusted bolts on am upturned shell, just because someone on here had told me they're touring-specific

Re: 325I has lay for a year, seized starter? Smoke from wir

If you take a car that hasn't run for a long time, the first thing you should do before putting the key in the ignition is to try and turn the engine by hand. This involves sticking a spanner on the crank bolt and trying to do a full revolution (with the handbrake on and the gear in neutral, of cour...

Barry, that diff table is one of the oldest pages in the Wiki, so if you can give me some pointers about how it needs correcting then I'll clean it up ASAP. I've never seen any sources for the information that's on there.

Nm - Newton metres. It's what people not born in the Jurassic era use instead of ft/lb.

30Nm = 22ft/lb.

I looked at E46s, but the missus wasn't impressed with the size (oo-er!). And over here, a 330i is regularly a grand more than similar age/condition 530i, so with the E39 it's a lot more car for the money. This chariot will be making regular trips of a few hundred miles at a time (the in-laws live 2...

Cheers for the advice gents. With a baby on the way and in the middle of a house renovation, I definitely need the extra space of a Touring. I'd heard warnings about cooling systems and the horrors of the ABS module, but didn't know the suspension was a weak point too.

Re: I want to sell my E30 but I'm not sure how much its wort

If you want to see any decent coin, get those horrendous rims off and sell them separately. If you've got time, it might also make sense to take your adjustable suspension off and flog that too, as it won't add any meaningful value to a 1.8 auto fourdoor. Once you've done that and taken honest, dayl...

E39 530i Touring

Before I go and join the deviants on the 5er forums, what's the take on these old chariots? Are they getting unbearably ropey with age, or are they still a decent motor for their price? With a sprog on the way and lots of motorway miles to eat up, I need a safety-conscious estate with some decent gr...

Fitting sunroof headliner

Can't seem to get mine to fit, and this has led to an unpleasant drip in this summer's thunderstorms because the rear gutter rail isn't aligned. I've clipped the sunroof panel headliner's side arms to the gutter rail. Then I open the sunroof in the tilt-forward position, and try to slide the headlin...

Spotted M3: H189XYT

Spent a week in England, and casually bumped into an M3 parked on the road in a Kentish side-street. Not the most pristine example, but still a genuine pleasure to see one of these beasts in the flesh.

Anyone on here know who the car belongs to?

Nope, it's definitely the right tank and gauge. The gaugle says 60l, and since I fitted the tank myself I know it's the larger unit.

I'm thinking that one of the syphon pipes is blocked or crimped somehow, so there's 20l trapped on one side that I cant pump out.

Fuel tank problems

Just ran out of fuel 3km short of the German border... fortunately on the slip lane into the petrol station, so it was only a 100m push! Fuel gauge still showed 20 litres left, and I could only get 40 litres into the tank no matter how slowly I pumped, and the gauge now reads full. There's no dent i...

The CHECK light will flash if any of the red bulbs are lit on the Check Panel above the mirror. The Brake light will glow when you turn the ignition in, and should go off when you press the brake pedal. If it doesn't go off, then either your brake switch isn't seated properly in the pedal mount, or ...

If you have the part numbers, try searching the forums to see if anyone else has asked Cotswolds for the prices. You may be pleasantly suprised; it's often a case that no-name tat on eBay works out more expensive than genuine BMW stuff.

BMW are the place for this sort of stuff. Go on Realoem.com, find your car, then find the diagram with the bits you need. Copy the part numbers and quantities, then either visit your local dealership or post a request in the Cotswold BMW section of this forum. Have you checked your fuse box to make ...

Re: anyone can identify this gearbox?

The G260 gearbox was only fitted to M20-equipped cars.

For the propshaft, I cannot find any detailed information on lengths, unfortunately. However, there is a small amout of adjustment (20mm?) in each prop shaft.

Put a spanner on the crank shaft nut to confirm the engine turns over by hand. From there, confirm the engine to body earth strap is in good condition. Re: Shock replacement

The max drop of 30mm isn't because of the shocks, but because of the suspension geometry being buggered up on the back end, leading to excessive tyre wear. Of course, shorter shocks will help your handling if you have dropped the arse that much.

Bad earth - left rear light cluster

I've got the Old Ford syndrome; when the indicator flashes the brake light (and other lights) fade to compensate - this is a pain if the lights are on with your foot on the brake, as it makes the indicators speed up. I've looked at the loom and can't see any major issue, and from looking at the wiri...
