Re: 15'' steelies

Golf G60 steels. 15x6 as standard and I'm pretty sure you can still buy them from vw brand new. Good looking steel wheel as well. I think there's a couple of contacts on Retro-rides who can band your wheels for less that £300

Re:

I've heard very mixed reviews from EBC pads. Personally I use Mintex Extreme and have been extrememly please with there effectiveness straight from cold. However I have never used them on a track day but my mechanic uses them on his trackday saxo and rates them.

Re: 318 v. 320

I find my 318i fun to drive with decent handling, if not quite the quickest thing on the road (and that's from a former Porsche 928 owner!). Why not get a mint 318i, look after it and in a few years drop in a 2.5? I think thats pretty much exactly what I'm gunna do! Maybe not a 2.5 but something be...

Re: Is the E30 scene lacking in imagination?

Hmmm I like the cross contamination. Its one thing I think could be used more in the BM scene. I;ve seen a nice E30 four door on Polished Audi TT comp's which looked ace and a couple of BM's on Porsche wheels. They looked different and really cool. Adaptors are so readily available for 4x100 fitment...

Re: 318 v. 320

318iS wasn't any different insurance wise for me than a 318i for some reason.
Hmm will look into that then! I would love an iS if I can afford the insurance, I see it as the best of both worlds. However the 6 cylinder does have a draw for the sound!

Re: 318 v. 320

Haha I've noticed a lot of this 6 cylinder "snobbery"

I agree that the sound is addicitve and they're very smooth (this is from experience with an e36 320) but does the extra weight not make it a bit more nose heavy than a 318?

Re: Is the E30 scene lacking in imagination?

I don't think so much emphasis should be put on trying to emulate the VW scene because tbh its jast as boring and static ATM. Same old mods done to the same old cars. There's nothing new and the VW scene is so up itself it unbelievable! Its nice to come onto a Model/marque specific site where people...

Re: Bike carbs on an E30 - impressive.

That Golf set-up looks like it would draw alot of hor air in from under the bonnet...has anyone ever made a similar set up but with a plenum chamber etc? I believe chap on retro-rides used a plenum set up on his bike throttle body and supercharged imp. I'm very interested in Bike carb/Bike TB conve...
