If hot water does not work tar & glue remover will, machine polishing is the wrong application for what you need to do, and G3 is shite.

Re: Swiss vax or muguires

These expensive boutique waxes don't offer much in the way of protection, it's more bling. But something like vics red will also be outstanding on a black car for a fraction of the cost If you want to protect your nice new paint job, I'd look into protecting it with a synthetic sealant. Why keep a car if you're going to drive it only 2 days a week? Appreciation factor aside, it's just waste of a car. It was built to be ragged around (erhmmm...and serviced as well), especially the 325i lol :D It's not a waste at all, a few of us may spend most of the week in work vans and have anot...

^^ this no nonsense paint protection, if your happy with the finish then leave it and don't polish it any more if not a finishing polish and pad may improve the gloss, just bear in mind that you are removing paint colour.

Are you sure that it's rubbing on the fuel tank and not the metal tray that is under the prop that may be pushed up at the end causing the noise that you mention?

I'm a big fan of collinite wax's. makes me laugh that a wax as cheap as collinite holds the crown for durability over more pricey wax's.
another good combo is from wolfs chemicals, shine and seal topped with hard body very durable and looks awesome.
