I also have issus with the Lowe one! Fitted it and worked fine for a week then started to stall when slowing down. As it gets hotter it stalls whenever it should idle, to the point you turn it over and it will stall if not revved. Ordered an OEM used one now, will see if that fixes it.

The engine was degreased but the metal parts were all removed and wire wheeled and then polished to create a smooth finish. The smaller more detailed areas were hand finished with metal polish and varying grades of wire wool.

Water spotting only usually occurs if the sun pops out when the car is wet causing a slight acid etch to form from the droplets. I think there is more depth available on non AC cars as I recall their being less housing on them under the dash, could be wrong though. Depth is the only big issue when trying to fit a cup holder in an E30.
