Re: Mot failure- Headlight adjusters
I just had to do mine, all were seized solid. Take the whole light assembly out and hammer the threads and the balljoint ends in wd40. Swear, smoke, drink tea. Then take a pair of mole grips and squeeze the plastic part that the thread actually screws through, repeat this in several positions (not y...

Re:
They say you can go over black easy. Apparently the prep involves rubbing the seats down completely, so you literally re-surface them. mine are black and im thinking of doing the centres red and re-doing the bolsters black so they are like new. would be different!

Re: Black plastic...well it'd be nice if it was black
im an ex valeter/salesman and this was the cheapest and best way to make older cars look good on the forecourt. Some products will work as well but they usually wash off with rain and leave runs down the car. Vauxhall corsa arches?? no problem! Like Bruce says be careful with paint and glass, and al...

Re:
From what ive heard the 324d lump is about as sub standard as any ford lump, and pre year 2000 ish the peugeot lumps were the best on the road imo.
i did want to do a 320d conversion from an e46 but i cant get hold of the bits for less than 1500 quid! hence gas is the only way forward for me i think.

Re: Black plastic...well it'd be nice if it was black
Depending on the plastic i always use a heat gun (paint stripping type) you will only have to do this once as it brings them up like new. Its also brilliant for getting rid of white stress marks if the bumper has been distorted at some time, its time consuming but worth it! when im done i always use...

Re:
For some reason my injectors are really noisy so that would be nice!! Another ideal diesel donor if you want to do the purists heads in Zedone, is the 1800 turbo d from the escort/sierra. Good engines, and all the same advantages you mentioned with the pug lump BUT this one can be mounted for rwd :c...

Re: 318i vs 320i
Ive just sold a 318i touring on ebay that i rebuilt the motor in. i swear by the m40 engine in good shape, my mate has a mint low miler 320 saloon on a g and the touring with a boot full of tools used to slaughter it! he is getting 60 miles to a tenner and the touring was doing 75. i think the 6 pot...

Re:
Thanks brian, i must say that the torque the m51 has would be really useable in an e30. saying that though i think the gas would be an easier and probably cheaper option. and of course then i get to keep the silky noise

Re: Diesel conversion???
I have also thought about a 320d conversion but i cant get an engine for less than a grand!! I thought long and hard about the m50 conv but i want to do something different, if i do it though i think i would go down the 2.0 route as they go well and would have better economy. im not really after spe...
