Re: My 335i M30 B3.5
Very nice work. I did the E90 servo and master cylinder conversion and I didn't end up shortening the clevis, I left it alone and it was roughly about right and just tweaked the bar adjustment behind the pedal box itself. I used a hardened bolt and spacers to get the right fit with the E30 linkages,...

Wow that radiator! I ended up using a cheap ebay E36 M3 aluminium rad... It's the first time I've been satisfied with the cooling of my M30.
Lovely car and amazing work! It's going to be incredible.

So... I know I started this topic but my Z4 rack is coming out in favour of a 067 purple tag! I really enjoy the Z4 rack but I was finding on long track sessions I was exhausted manhandling the steering so much with sticky tyres and no assistance! It works great, but I guess I'm just not beefy enoug...

Re: m30 + m10 manual 5-speed ?
I've done two M30 conversions with M10 5 speeds. It bolts right up, using the E30 320i prop and gear linkage. The main issue is what to do with the clutch and flywheel. My first one I used the M10 flywheel with an uprated M10 CG paddle clutch (215mm from memory), it seemed OK but I wasn't 100% sure ...

Radiator for Track, M30 E34 or M30 E28
I've currently got fitted a new M535i radiator fitted in my setup, with twin P38 range rover fans, for normal duties this is working perfectly. Recently I went on a normal Snetterton track day and the car was creeping over the halfway mark up to 3/4, much quicker than I liked and I had to do cool do...

Re: Z4 Rack - 3.0 turn, fully manual rack - Fits and Works G
Sounds like a good option for the rally crowd using an EPAS column from a Corsa or similar. Will something like Dan's shaft with e34 knuckles not work? I'm not sure, it depends if the steering linkage splines are the same (I don't think they are) and the length needed for the shaft between the UJs....

Z4 Rack - 3.0 turn, fully manual rack - Fits and Works Great
This is heavily documented on R3vlimited but I couldn't find a RHD example of this being done. If you don't know Z4 racks are fully manual due to z4s having electronic column power steering. I bought a rack of ebay for £70 delivered, but had to buy the Z4 linkage seperately for another £40 delivered...

New Prefacelift Front Valance Source?
I'm after a new front valance panel but the only place I can see supplying them online is Eurocarparts for £60. Should I just lump for that or is there another better/cheaper source?
I'm not too worried if it's not great quality - neither's my car!

That's true Brian but 99% of M30 swaps these days use just one position, the one that puts the engine furthest back which I believe is "position 3". On Lee's mounts there is only position 2 and 3, and using anything other than position 3 would mean the radiator would have to be mounted well within t...

Re: brake peddle
During my first M30 swap I thought I had to smack the hell out of the bulkhead to make room for the engine, I was not only wrong, I actually caused the bulkhead to touch against the brake bar that runs along behind it. As such it caused drag and the need to flick the pedal back fully up. Maybe this ...

I believe 320i and 325i linkages are different lengths but I know that 320i linkages are the direct fitment, as such 325i linkages shouldn't work.

Re: m30b35 with a m10 gearbox. is a m10 prop a straight fit?
False. M30 engine + M10 Gearbox + M20B20 prop + M20B20 gear linkage = SUCCESS (I've done that recipe twice now)
I'm 99% sure the M10 prop is not the same length as an M20B20 prop, therefore M10 prop is not a direct fit.

I'd go for BCs as for the same price they come with top mounts and the ability to change suspension height without affecting spring travel/preload. Re: M20 engine mounting angle.
I've done an M50 E21, rotating the M50 upright to the M20 angle means the sump hangs down awkwardly and needs to be cut, winged and welded along with a custom pick up. If you rotated an M20 to an M50 angle then I'm not sure where the sump will end up. It could be tucked up towards by the rotation so...

Re: M30 with what steering rack?
I stripped down my E36 rack, cut all the seals out and greased it all up so it's pretty much a full manual 3.4 turn rack. It's just about bareable when parking and is fine once on the move and out on track.
Trouble with the E30 manual racks is they are 4.4 turns or higher I believe?

Re: M30 with what steering rack?
I run (for the time being...) an M30 with an E36 rack, though the rack has no power steering. I can't help with the plumbing but I can say that a custom linkage is not needed if you use an E36 rack. Fit the rack in the rear holes of the subframe (usual PAS rack position), take the rubber flex/guibo ...

I've had an absolute mare trying to keep my E30 M30 conversion cool. I've done two M30 conversions, both times using an M10 getrag 240. The first time I used M10 flywheel with that CG paddle clutch. I didn't drive the car long before I sold it but it seemed to hold up. I remember it did slip once but it was a pretty hard clutch dump. I should think for longer term it...

Some of you guys must be thinking of another 318is as this was the original engine as far as I know. It all looked factory fitted. The engine was SUPERB, hence keeping it and going into my E21 (and for sentimental reasons)
