Re:
I've a 130i and recently got an e30 m3 so here's a comparison- Appearance - 130i is a bit funny looking whatever way you look at it, best with the m sport bodykit and it grows on you but it'll never be a classic shape like the e30. Driving - 130 pulls well from low revs, loads of torque and then fli...

I think BMW themselves have devalued the ///M brand/badegs by offering 'M Sport' versions of everything from a 116i to a 550i  . All of these come as standard with a minium of 'M' badged wheels & steering wheels... However, I'm still of the opinion that only 'M' cars (and I don't include M Spo...

Re:
I've been havin problems with this - how do you shorten the propshaft? That's going from medium to large - small and medium case diffs differ only in length; you have to shorten the propshaft at the centre.

Re: how long would it take to die in an e30....
Euro Ncap is the best guide we have to safety of cars relative to each other. The e30 wasn't tested but the e36 was and it was pretty poor, e46 was a lot better and the latest 3 series better again - certainly I wouldn't expect an e30 to be too good in a crash but it's unfair to expect it to as it's...

Yes, reckon it'll be slower off the line but not really bothered too much as it's just for a bit of fun, certainly won't be competing in anything!
Thanks for the info folks

Re: 325i diff in a 320i?
LOL - it's not too quick granted
Ok so it should fit, we'll give it another go then - the problem was the bolt holes don't seem to match up in the right places.
Thanks

325i diff in a 320i?
I got a lsd from a 325i for our 320i thinking it would be a direct swap but it won't fit.
What diff would fit a 320i? - does it have to be the smaller size?
Thanks
Cyril

Re: 0-60 time in a 325i
Quoted figures seem to vary - Autocar Figures from the time are as follows - 0-60 325i 2 door - 7.4 325i sport - 6.8 M3 - 7.1 0-100 325i 2 door 19.9 325i sport 18.8 M3 19.0 This doesn't seem to make sense, why would a sport be faster than 200 bhp M3? If it was just 0-60 then it could be down to gear...

That's a really tough call - a mate has a VR6 Corrado and I reckon it's the best front drive car I've driven, and it makes an excellent noise as standard. But then the 325 drives the correct wheels although will be slower as standard. You could make a case for either and not be wrong - both excellen...

Re: Non-BMW Bucket Seats
Not sure how the seatbelt would work with aftermarket seats, but I've read on other forums that a full harness is best used only in a caged car as it holds the driver in place which is a problem if the roof comes in whereas the standard three point would let him/her move about a bit more to avoid ne...

Thanks - N Ireland (Co Down).
The e30 325is has become really popular here the last few years - eg N Ireland autotrader usually has five or six cars per week which someone has brought over specially from mainland UK.

520d is where it's at! Really nice car to drive, good performance, great handling and brakes and they just feel like you're getting your money's worth which I don't feel with the 1 Series. I'd rather have a good spec diesel Golf and save a load of dollars. The 116i is disgustingly slow and the styl...

Just to say Hello
I've alway loved the e30 and have recently got an 89 320i 2 door which is being stripped out for track day use.
There seems to be loads of info on here, off to find out more....

[quote="toby"] However the 1 series is a missed opportunity to redo the E30 with a more powerful engine. It's an stumpy ugly little dog of a car which has just a front and a back. It reminds me of a bull terrier which is just a set of teeth and an arsehole. quote] You need to drive a 130i ! :) The l...

Re:
Not till you see a 1 and a E30 together, do you realise that the 1 is the new E30! The 3 series has gained size and weight with each new model, the 1 is just about the same size as a E30. That might be why the 1 is good to drive (in big engine guise anyway!), it's really a E30. :D I've long thought...
