Electric Mirror Issues
Hello - I'm in need of a bit of knowledge which might save me a load of time and effort. My electric mirrors have decided to pack in - absolutely nothing happens when the control is used to adjust them. I've swapped the mirror control switch for (two) different ones I got from a breakers, still noth...

Right, that makes it fairly clear - it'd be easier to just buy the right kit and not piss about. Cheers all!

Re: Coupe/touring suspension swap..
Hmm. I'd heard about the larger diameter struts but haven't had chance to have a good look at them on the Tourer to check. Looking at my is against the 316, it looks like the strut might fit into the casing although I'm sure BMW had good reasons for putting bigger struts on a Touring :? I guess the ...

Coupe/touring suspension swap..
Hello,
my mate is after dropping his '91 318i Touring a little bit. I've got a 40mm Gmax kit on the '91 316i I had before my 318is. Can the kit be swapped from the Coupe to the Touring and the standard Touring struts and springs fitted back to my Coupe?
Cheers!

Thanks - much appreciated. I got mildly lost in the world of one component being 0.0003% better than another there

"e46 top mounts will be fine for road use, and to make them more effective the use of the re -enforcing wash is recomended "
What's this washer? I've got my E46 top mounts and plan to do the job this weekend, but I'd like to do it once and once only

Heh. I'd been fitting a stereo and was getting my head around some mildly insane wiring (it's been crimped onto WHAT?) and then the indicators stopped working. I had a massive drive to Cumbria to do the next day so I was a little stressed over it - I got to the point of taking the steering wheel off...

Re: I want a 318is.
Just bought a rather tidy red 318is for £1400. Insurance was about £700 fully comp, 22 with only 2 yrs driving and 1ncb. It's lovely, handles beautifully and I can't stop flooring it just to hear it start really pulling at about 4K.. :D Have a look on www.moneysupermarket.com for car insurance d...

Re: 316i tappetty tap tap and hesitant
"Oil made for diesel engines contains more detergents to keep the filthy, cancer causing machines clean inside." :D Just out of interest I've got the usual massive tappety noise my my M40 - would using engine flush gunk help quieten them down or would it be a bad idea? I'm currently using Magnatec o...

Re: How do you 17/18 yr olds get insurance ?
I'm 22 - last year it cost me £1K to insure (fully comp) my 316i with Norwich Union. I'd only been driving for 6 months but the car and policy were both in my name. I'd done Pass Plus which was worth a bit off the premium and quite useful anyway. This year Barclays were the cheapest by miles - £...

Re: Electric fans?
Right, I'll have a look down the scrappy for a fan and see if I can get an adjustable hose thermostat out of anything at the same time. Cheers for the Demon Tweeks link - I'm down the road from them but I'll think I'll keep it as a last resort.. :) Thanks again, I'll let you know how I get on. Hopef...

Re: Electric fans?
Nah, the cooling system is fine, never gets anywhere near overheating except in heavy traffic - the viscous clutch on mine is shagged which explains that - and I've believed the stuff about gaining a bit of power from using a non engine driven fan (you need all you get with a 316i :D ). ECP say abou...

Electric fans?
Hello, Just a quick Q - anyone had any experience fitting a Kenlowe/any other electric radiator fan on an 316/318i in place of the slightly crap viscous clutch item? I think Kenlowe do kits, but they probably won't be cheap and I was wondering if there's any scrapyard solutions anyone knows of and i...

Re:
Have you had the CO reading checked at all? The mixture might be off. You can mess about with this using the screw on the side of the airflow meter on top of the airbox. there's a screw hidden under an anti-tamper cover. The idle on my 316i went funny after changing the exhaust from a straight throu...

Making a 316i better, on a budget
Hello, I'm new here, but I have some vaguely pressing questions I thought people might have answers to. Hope I've got the right forum and all that... I've got a '91 316i 2dr, it's been lowered 40mm front and rear with cheapy G-Max struts and springs and there's a K&N panel air filter stuck in, some ...
