Re:

ok. I've taken the dials out and the nut and washer that hold the dial in were dirty possibly causing a bad connection. I've cleaned them up and it's working at the moment!!! Interesting that the service lights can affect the temp gauge. If this doesn't cure the problem then it looks likely that the...

problems with temp gauge

Hi. I've got a 1985 325i which had a problem with the temperature gauge working intermitantly then packed in all together. I earthed out the temp sensor and the needle didn't move. I then changed the whole clock set ( 3 months ago)and it worked fine til now!!! The same thing has happened again. I've...

Re: cheap mods for a e30 325i????

go steady with the stripping though. I use an early 325 2 door for track days and after stripping out everything i could but leaving in just enough for the car to run found the back end is alot livelier than it was before. Most of the weight that is easy to strip out comes from the back. Ideal if yo...

i had a spare head that has gone porous which didn't tap. Took the spray bar off of this head and put it on. The oil seems to flow out of this one much better than the old one. Took car out for a spin and all seems well at the moment. Thanks for your advise though chaps. :D

i had same sort of problem wiv mine though it didn't turn out to be gasket or a crack. The head had corroded away around the water ways. Started to pressurise water system then developed a miss fire which was when the water went in the oil. Head corroded probably due to previous owner not using anti...

this is more than an injector tick. Every now and then is sounds like a valve is sticking as the tap goes to a clunk like as if the cam was shafted but then it goes back to a tap again. Should oil be flying around the cam/rockers when the engine is ticking over?

noisey tappets.

Hi. i've got a 1986 325.The tappets have been a little noisey since i got the car so checked and adjusted the gaps (some were loose ,some tight on shim). After this they sounded alot better but still not quiet. I drove the car around for a bit then rechecked them and the gaps are fine. Could it be a...

What year did they change this?

Hi. just wondering when they changed the electrics in the dials. I have a 1986 325 and the temp gauge has stopped working. Went to my local breakers and took the dials from a G reg 325 touring. Noitced when i took my dials out they had a different part no. and that the later one has a blue back cove...

Re: which head do i get?

Have a look on the inlet manifold side of the head, above the inlet ports in the centre there is a 3 digit number cast onto it. You need one with '885', a '731' or '200' will not work. Cheers, Iain T Yeah checked this. The two heads both have the same casting number. I think this head (2.5/2.7) cam...

which head do i get?

Hi. I've just taken the head off of my 1986 325i and the reason my head gasket has gone is because the water ways have corroded away.I could get it welded but i went down to my local breakers and they have 2 heads down there for sale. One has 2.5 cast on it which i presume is the standard 325 head b...
