Re: Improving stability, grip & handling on the cheap
Yeah remote reservoir dampers etc. And i'm used to track prepped 106s & had a 205 GTi so i'm used to sharp fwd hatches. Also had an E30 M42 though before and even though the mtech stuff on it was much better than the touring it still wasn't great. The front bushes are pretty good, not very old. Prob...

Improving stability, grip & handling on the cheap
An impossible task i know! My touring drives like a boat, i'm used to driving a clio 182 trophy which is like a fly, whereas the touring is like an elephant. It appears to have reasonable sized ARBs all round, i will measure them with a vernier. There is far too much body roll, body control is poor ...

Anyone got any ideas?
I'd have thought if it was a cat it'd reduce to single pipe for the cat?! Meaning it's just a silencer?!

320i exhaust dilemma
Hey all again. My 320 touring has developed a hole in the exhaust and i'm trying to work out the best way to resolve the problem. The front section consists of the downpipe and cat/silencer - has two pipes in two pipes out, does a g reg 320 have a cat? Then there is a centre section which is bolted ...

Re: Anyone on here fitted throttle bodies to their M52B28?
Ok, in that case what should i realistically be looking to pay for an S50B30 or 32 then? My mate bought an E36 M3 2 door for £1800 recently the cheeky bastard, on that basis, the £1500+ on ebay for an engine is pretty OTT but that's expected with ebay. Cheers for the help so far. I need to make my m...

Re: Anyone on here fitted throttle bodies to their M52B28?
I would like to, but it appears that M52s are much more common, and much more likely to have had an easy life in a convertible driven by a woman, but i'm not overly fussed. S50s appear to go for a lot more cash too?!

Re: Anyone on here fitted throttle bodies to their M52B28?
Looks like the us spec M3 3.2 uses an M52B28 inlet manifold. I'm gathering from various info that it could be possible. Has anybody actually offered them up? Providing the B32 stuff doesn't fit on with a bit of work(remote oil cooler?) then i'm sure an inlet manifold could be knocked up easily enoug...

Anyone on here fitted throttle bodies to their M52B28?
Been pondering recently about engine choices. I'd like to fit an M52B28, will rebuilt it before fitting, and obviously chuck some nicer cams in with a decent header and probably a B25 inlet, but was wondering if there was an easy way to fit individual bodies onto the B28 head. Is the port spacing th...

I presume it's single channel for the rear? To be honest most modern systems still are!
Collecting my next E30 on friday and looking forward to seeing what spec it is. No doubt going to modify it suitably.
How long can i last with 12v wrongness?

Will a 320 touring have disc rear brakes?
Hi all, long time no post. Does a 320 touring manual have discs on the rear, and vented front brakes? Will it have ABS, cc etc also? It's got BBSs from the factory if that tells you anything! Sorry i can't provide any more information, apart from perhaps a reg number if that's of any use which i dou...

Well i took it for a track day, and err stacked it haha. Nah it's fine, just needs the front panel and splitter sorting out. It was inevitable. I bought the car as it is a few weeks back. It did idle ok breifly for a while, sometimes it's alright and other times it's not. Never run spot on though since i got it. But then it just needs some TLC i'm sure.

Re: Crap idle M42
I need to replace the leads really, and clean the air flow meter, throttle body and idle motor stuff really. then check for inlet leaks etc, and see what it does. i'm thinking the heater plate really needs to be there for it to run correctly for how it is mapped? And the superchip and cam timing won...

I gather this is a common problem, and the air mass sensor is the cause? Idle is rough pretty much permanently. It might be normal though. Mods: Chipped uk off shelf chip Cam timing adjusted(supposedly, can definitely cause this) Heater plate removed I am thinking that perhaps returning it to standa...

Clattering from clutch/flywheel area
Started off as a sort of worn gearbox bearing noise at idle, something rattles occasionally when accelerating too, now it rattles loudly at idle as the car has a rough idle, which is something else to have a look at :| Any ideas? the clutch works fine and the gearbox is on approx 100k apparently. It...
