Lots of WD40 could bring the switch back to life. If its not working you have nothing to lose...
One of my switches worked a lot better after this.

I had an E36 316i with the m43 engine and ran it from 74k to 159k with no problems. It used virtually no oil or water. Very economical on longer journeys as well.

For buying or browsing it would definitely be online. However I believe the paper version is still good for selling.
I sold my old e36 last year, no calls when only advertised online but as soon as the paper came out it had sold within 2 days and had numerous calls after.

Worth whatever someone's willing to pay... Must have limited appeal though because it's not a car you could do many miles in as its value would diminish.

My 525i touring has developed a serious power steering fluid leak today  It appears to be leaking from the pump it's self, but is hard to tell in the dark. I have tried topping it up but it just leaks straight through again when I turn the wheel. Anyone got any experience of this? could it be t...

Performance Direct gave me the best quote for the last 2 years. In the form limited millage policy with agreed valuation. This in a 2nd policy as my 325i is not my main car though.

As said above, can you find anyone who will insure it on a classic policy? Many will require you to be 25 but there will be some exceptions. One requirement of a lot of classic policies it that the car is not your main car, in your case it wouldn't be.

Would it be possible to keep the M3 and run something cheap and diesel? Something unloved like a Citroen ZX or Mk1 Mondeo seem capable of high millages and still around in reasonable numbers.

Re: E36 Rear Wishbone
My E36 had a knackered wheel bearing and because i drove several thousand miles with it rumbling the garage were unable to remove the bearing. They ended up sourcing a used hub from a scapyard. To fit just the wheel bearing a press is needed, not all garages have these. I got quotes of £90 upwards...

According to the Haynes Manual, power steering fluid should be Dexron II type. a) Is this the best type?, b) Where will be the cheapest place to buy? (Halfords, BMW pats dept. Or a local car parts shop)

As above really, wait for a car with a better shell to come along and swap the best bits over (wheels, seats etc). it looks likes you would be fighting a losing battle with the rust on that one. Whats condition is the engine in?
