Re: Tropical Radiator
Hi Guys, Just to let ya'll know that I got the parts (inc rad) from Zimmer yesterday and fitted them after work last night. A little messy, but easier than i thought. My first bit of engine surgery on any car... Quick run last night shows no problems so should be good to go for a run up the motor wa...

predictably the rad has turned up too small. Zimmer, for what its worth, the box says auto ac on it. Back it goes. Will pm on the rad. I'm not prepared to change all the connections and fan cowel to accommodate the wrong part. Danthe, rad make was recommended to me by my service garage. Build qualit...

Re: Tropical Radiator
Hi Zimmerbimmer, I thought the difference between the tropical and 851 was that the 851 was shorter? If that is not the case and the 851 is 550mm as you say, it sounds like I may be okay. I have ordered an 851 equivalent. Looks like I need to stop panicking till it turns up tomorrow. Thanks for your...

Hi Guys I previously posted a long rambling post about our broken radiator yesterday (thanks for the comments on that one BTW). Again the car is: K-reg 325i Cab Auto with AC imported from Hong Kong by previous owner. I have ordered a Nissen radiator from Europarts (£125 +£12 delivery, BMW wanted £32...

Radiator Woes
Hi Guys, Got a problem with leaking coolant from our car. A few details: 1992 325i Cab Auto with AC, imported to the UK in 1997 by previous owner from Hong Kong. We drove the car to Bristol and back (our usual length of drive in the car as we live but don't drive in London) and left it for a week. I...

Re: Central locking triggered by driver side door handle.
Hi Guys, Just to let you know I sorted the problem temporarily, pending lubing the mechanism. I realised that the Valet monkey did not follow the very specific instructions on the booking form. He must have used the key in the lock rather than the remote. I'm guessing that as this mechanism is almos...

Re: Central locking triggered by driver side door handle.
Thanks for the comments Brian. That was more or less my plan first off. Unfortunately we're helping a friend move at the weekend which will be fun with a comedy door lock! Might have to sneak off to play with a screwdriver at some point. I still think the problem has been triggered by abuse. They've...

Re: Central locking triggered by driver side door handle.
Hi,
thanks for comments on electrics. Sure this will help when i start to fix it. From what you say, i'm thinking that they mangled the mechanics somehow (because handle is stiff) and it is now grounding in some way. Begining to wonder if someone tried to nick it from the car park...

Central locking triggered by driver side door handle.
Hi Guys, We went away for the weekend and left our car with a reputable valet parking system at Stanstead and now have a problem with the door locks. On approaching the car I was able to unlock the car with the (BMW) remote and open the boot with no difficulty. My wife also opened the passenger door...

Out of interest, before you cut them, do a search in the forums. There is a thread on re-filling them and getting them running. They ARE repairable if you can be bothered. Do a search for adjuster. Hang on I'll do it for you, see below. <http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopi...

Temp Gauge
Hi Guys, The temp gauge on our 325i cab has only ever risen to about 1/3 on the scale. Conventional wisdom would suggest it should settle at 1/2 way. Is this normal? Any thoughts on what would cause this? The cable or the sensor? We have yet to pick the car up from its first service in our ownership...

Not sure I would have moved the lid at all... more likely that he sync between the two motors is out or the pull rod (the light brown/greeny one not the black) is bent or needs adjustment. The noise you heard sounds like the bang might have been your lid motor jumping a gear (hopefully not tearing i...

Hi Guys! I have had a couple of battery issues with our 325i Cab, firstly when we bought it the battery was shot (nice of the guy to tell us) so we had to call out recovery to get home and secondly when I stupidly left the lights on. HI Dave,
I need parts 3, 10 & 11 from that pic. Since I don't need part 2, I might get away lighter... 10 is only a hex bolt.
Cheers,
Frank

Hi Guys, In my quest to fix as many things as poss on our new 325i Cab, I have come across a problem with the light that indicates the position of the Automatic gear shift lever. Unfortunately I didn't know about Gaydon (this car is our first BMW and I'm new to the scene).

I have the wire BTW, need to check out how it works when I have more time. (still chasing the scrap yard owner)
Cheers,

Cool site for parts diagrams BTW.

Hi, These tech posts are turning into a habit... The safety device that stops you opening the boot and roof cover lid at the same time is broken on my E30 Cab. Thanks. I got the bentley in the post yesterday. Pretty comprehensive. I'm in London (East). The straps are all there and go tight when closed, but they tend to want to fold out, rather than in, if you follow what I mean when you put the hood down. So when working the hood manually (as you see the e...

Thanks for the link on the soft top (Dave D). The motor runs fine, and it is in the down, disconnected position. The lid catch opener works as well, there's just no way for the system to open and close the hood lid! I'll have a look at the page and see if the problems is the same as they describe. A...
