Only a matter of days til my e30 is no longer mine!

People, It will be a sad day this weekend! On Saturday (two days time!) I will no longer be a e30 owner! I am part Xing my 86 318i for a E36 M3 GT. Luckily my e30 is going to a friend as he is the one selling his GT so my e30 is going to a safe pair of hands!! But alas I will no longer be a e30 owne...

Re: temp gauge needle position

BMW OE thermostats have a habit of cracking through on one side of the bridge piece. For a sudden change in needle position, I'd first check the nut on the back of the cluster, and then check if the stat has broken. How do you get to the nut without taking the dash out!? A few weekends ago I took o...

Just wanted to big up my 86 m10 e30!

Took my 318i M10 on a 800 mile round trip to Exeter and back to Norfolk over the bank hols weekend, so trip each way plus some driving about while there. Car ran perfectly, no over heating when stuck on M25 on outside lane with handbrake on and managed to average 35 mpg which impressed me! (admit im...

My temp guage sits around the half way, sometimes a little under sometime a little over and in stop start traffic will sit midway between half and 3/4. A little off topic but Its done that for a year so figure either the nut is loose on the back or its just what it does! Tried getting to the nut to ...

Just been reading on pistonheads and other car sites while eating my sandwich about the new tax bands coming in from 2009 which includes older cars. Re: what engine is in an 86 318i

The M10 is a fine engine... Economy? depends on how you drive...anything between 20-40mpg It is possible to tune the M10 keeping standard or easily available replacement internals up to around 200bhp or over. The basic block was the basis of the 80s F1 turbo motor as used by Brabham with Nelson Piq...
