As already mentioned above VAG is the way to go

Also pixels on the dash and mid can go but quite an easy fix if you don't mind doing a bit of drilling and can get the ribbons

As above but make sure the electrics are good and also check for front suspension issues and shimmy's around 55-70mph I've had 2 x 1996 523's in the past - 1 being a manual which was a bit of a shed and must have been ragged in it's early life as it had everything (nearly) go wrong with it and cost ...

I owned an E34 525tds a few years ago and managed to get 700 miles out of a tank - driving like a granny! I picked the car up for about £800, but must have spent about £1500-£2000 getting it fixed over the year of ownership - the engine just seemed to fall to bits :shock: Don't think I'd get another...

Thanks a lot for the update Simon, it's a fist without the 3x3 seatbelts with 3 kids and in my current E36 (and previous E34s and E30s!) so this is a bonus and save using the wife's Pug 307 - the facelift E39 530 is next on my never ending list! I'm sure the 530 will get mid 30's on a run like my ol...

That actually looks really nice and lot better than most of the turds I've driven :D Anyway, there's still quite a few E34s out there so flog all the nice bits like the leather, wheels, clear/smoked lenses, obc etc and strip it as mentioned above - also if it is a nail then the engine will be a good...

I've had 2 M43'd Manual 518's and used them as dailys, cheap enough to run and insure, and could get around 550 miles from the tank.
