pump not running when cranking either with no attemt to fire this time.
plug definitely smelt of fuel when I took it out earlier today so either it runs intermittently when it attemps to fire or else left over from when I bridged the relay terminals

Now have 12v at c101 Maybe I disturbed something in the glove box or I think more likely it was a case of operator error in the rain yesterday as it still won't start. Hi Brian
Do you mean behind the black plastic cover which is the roof of the glovebox?
Half a ton wiring in there as it has a BMW immobiliser fitted (switched off via the key over 3 years) but no sign of a 2 pin socket with green wires

Not the heat shield either,
If you spin the wheel you can only really hear the pad/disc noise unlike the bucket of bolts I had on the nearside.

Re: Baffled by noise
We've owned several E30's over the years and not one of them has needed a front wheel bearing. It was one of my initial thoughts so if they can be noisey before any real play then most likely that is the cause. The noise at around 55 is positively frightening. Seeing it has ABS its going to be a bit...

Yes you can, just a faint vibration but it goes when the noise does.

Re: Baffled by noise
I reckon the front, if i put the auto box in a fixed gear the noise remains the same.
I also have checked for play in all wheel bearings.
The noise starts to go when you just turn the wheel to start to drift left across the
road not even a full turn.
Bizarre

Baffled by noise
I am plagued by the loud rumbling winning noise on my 318i Its sounds a bit like the diff, prop shaft or maybe the auto box. But steer left even the slightest amount it goes, right it get even louder. Nothing is fouling the front wheels as I have checked from lock to lock with the car on the ground....

Re: 318is delayed rev drop - help please
I thought is was a faulty gauge as even after a 70 mile trip or a 1 1/2 mile crawl to school the needle sits at the top of the blue and the heater blows warm air.
Its only short journeys that I've made of late so couldn't say it it over idles after a long run,

Will have a look thanks but would have thought that any of those would affect the running whether it be under load or not same the throttle cable.
It definitely only does it once you come to a stop
