Here's a simple step-by-step guide to replacing the BMW badge on your E30. This covers both the front (82mm) and rear (86mm) badges. For this job you will need:
| Item | Part Number | Estimated Cost |
|---|---|---|
| BMW roundel (bonnet) | 51 14 8 132 375 | £20 |
| BMW roundel (rear) | 51 14 1 872 969 | £20 |
| Grommet (x2 per badge) | 51 14 1 902 279 | £4 |
| Flat-head screwdriver | - | - |
| Piece of cloth | - | - |
This is a relatively common problem with original metal roundels. They bubble and break.
Using a small flathead screwdriver, very gently pry your old badge off. Use a cloth or other cushion, so that you don't chip or break the paintwork. Work your way around the badge until it pops off.
Push the old gromits out of the boot lid. Ready yourself with some new ones.
Take the opportunity to clean the recess, and push the new grommets through.
Push the new badge firmly and evenly into the grommets.
Done!
