Are you thinking about getting rid of your center console cassette holders? I don't blame you. (who uses cassettes these days anyway?)<br />
<br />
This is a simple to follow guide, to covert that nasty cassette holder into a deep storage compartment.<br />
<br />
YOU WILL NEED:<br />
<br />
* Your original rear center console section with cassette holders.<br />
* Any spare piece of plastic (the top glovebox trim panel is ideal)<br />
* hacksaw and file (or dremel type tool)<br />
* Hot melt glue<br />
* cigarette lighter<br />
<br />
TO REMOVE:<br />
<br />
1.) Remove the rubber boot from around the handbrake lever.<br />
<br />
2.) Remove the rear center console by removing the rear ashtray and nut that attaches the console to the chassis.<br />
<br />
3.) Slide each of the cassette holders from the holder surround.<br />
<br />
4.) Unclip the cassette holder assembly from the center console.<br />
<br />
5.) draw round the outline of your storage compartment.<br />
<br />
6.) and cut it out.<br />
<br />
7.) Cut out the locating notches.<br />
<br />
8.) Fit the lower panel.<br />
<br />
9.) Heat up the plastic tabs and bend them over.<br />
<br />
10.) Now glue (or melt) the lower panel to the surround.<br />
<br />
11.) Refit the storage tray in the center console.<br />
<br />
12.) Now refit the surround to the car, and fill it with whatever you like.<br />
<br />
13.) you may wish to attach a piece of foam padding to the base of the storage compartment, to prevent it from rattling.<br />
